Denver Defense in Denver, NC abruptly closing it's doors

Other than the last message I posted in December.

I would imagine it's still a very expensive property to get one's hands on. They seemed to spare little expense when building it.

Tax value on the place is a little over $2 million.

Hell, I'll sell you anything I have for twice the price you could get it anywhere else too.
Do you know they match their web prices in store?

They are typically in line with the big guys (Brownells, Midway, Rainier) on most accessories/etc.

Nothing I love more than arguing with the yankees behind the counter that I can get pistol x for this many dollars from somebody else who I could just buy it from outright and not pay a "Brady Fee" all while the pot reeking hood rats ask to see every sub-200 dollar ghetto blaster in the case.

The old man that does the gunsmithing is nice, but I find their ammo and accessories to have at least a 25% markup. It's a gun-handling store.

That was close to my estimated value. No range fees only will make the fixed and variable cost to run it. In a couple years it will sell for south of $800,000. Might end up being a T&A club though.

Closest it will get to being a T&A club is when it becomes some yuppiefied bicycle-smoothie-bar for the day drinking housewives in the area. Putting a range in the outskirts of Maiden off new 16, where property values are exponentially less, but only a 5 minute further drive would probably be a better investment. I know if somebody suggest eating at a restaurant on old 16, I nix that idea immediately because I don't want to spend 35 minutes on that 10 mile stretch of fresh hell.

True but your customers would be sporting Hi Points and reaking of Mad Dog.

You aren't kidding! I avoid that area when at all possible.

And there are a few decent places to eat too. I'm ready to move out of Denver but my wife is holding on.

I only ever worked there, but I don't miss the idiocy of 150 a bit. I honestly don't think I once hit 55mph in the 2 years of driving to work every morning on that damn highway. Tues slice day of Grandma's pizza at Giovanni's is about all I miss.

For the last 8 years I've driven from Denver to Mooresville and back everyday for work. That ends on Wednesday and I can't tell you how glad I am. 150 and 16 are complete disasters and with literally hundreds of approved homesites in Denver it's only going to get worse.

I have a similar commute, from southwest Charlotte to the west side of Mooresville via 485 to 16 to 150. It sucks.

Even if they’d beat their web price by 10%, I’m not giving a plugged nickel to a store owned by a guy that doesn’t fully support the 2nd Amendment. He’s the ultimate “2A, but...” owner.

He’s the complete opposite of what I’ve seen from the guys that started PSA. For Larry, it’s about nothing but the money.

So I drove my there about 1030 this morning and there were 20+ cars in the parking lot.

Any news

None that I have heard.

Hmmmm.... maybe I will swing by in the morning to see if the sign in the door has any news....

I did stop by a few weeks ago, there were a lot of cars in the parking lot but the signs on the door still mentioned being closed pending a transfer in management.

However, as I just passed by on the way to work, there are work crews there pulling down the "Range," "Firearms," and "Training" signage on the outside wall.......so, I wouldn't call that a promising indication.

Anyone know what the clean up cost at a place like that is? There has to be some hazmat issues that would need to be addressed if it would be anything other than a gun range.
I would clean up their brass and lead for free, and judging from the amount I have already scrounged in a few short years of reloading....there wouldn't be a flat piece of .22 LRN or 9mm case to be found on the whole premises. I'd bring my own crew of course......who share my last name

I would say very little cost. No government involvement necessary. Basically clean the wall, floor, and ceiling.

I did not see a ownership name change yet.

Although I do agree with you analysis, OSHA might see it differently.

I don't have any plans of buying it and turning it into a titty bar or anything. Just curious

How about a T&A/Shooting Club? You can get a lap dance while having your gun detailed and then shoot an indoor IDPA match before going home. ;)

You could explain the glitter by claiming it was one of premise's patented gag confetti/glitter shotgun reloads. For those that have never done it, every 19 rounds, take one and instead of shot, put in glitter and confetti and give a box to your buddy. It's a big hit during dove season.

You're an AZZ, but I like the way you roll.

For sale sign out front when I was coming to work tonight.....

Wait one more year and we can all make it a CCF range on one side and open to the public on the other for a fraction of the original cost. I project it transitions in to something other than a range.
