Yes, this one:My 18v batteries are dying a slow death. Has anybody used the 20v-18v conversion thingy?
What he said !Yep. Works just fine. Great way to keep 18v tools going. Only issue I've had is the adapter (had several) is a giant pain to remove from the 18v tool.
I swear they did it on purpose to get folks to buy an adapter for every 18v tool so you don't have to fight it..
Huh? I guess I get itYou need an adaptor? I use my DeWalt 60/20 from my weedeater on my 18v circular saw and drill all the time with no adaptor. Just can't use the 18v on the weedeater.
I do all those things and never had a problemyes I have one but it has limitations. #1 you can only use the smaller batteries I think under 3ah. #2 you can't leave the batteries attached to the adapter or they will kill the battery. The adapter has some type of circuitry that will drain the batteries down below a recoverable level.
If you're old 18V batteries are dead look on youtube for how to rebuild them. It isn't that hard.
Overall the new, batteries are better than the older stuff so, its time to upgrade
My Bad...using my flex volt 60/20 on my 20v drill and saw.Huh? I guess I get it
You talking the "stick insert" lith-ion DeWalt did for a couple years?

This is what was in the ad and also web site when I looked.Amazon product ASIN B016K1UD0E from the specs"" You can use 1.5 Ah, 2.0 Ah, 3.0 Ah, 4.0 Ah and 5.0 Ah XR Slide-on 18V Batteries with this adapter. I have not had any batteries damaged by the adapter and I leave them ion all the time
It looks like maybe they have fixed the problems. I bought it around 2019 from lowes and as you can see in the reviews (in the amazon link you shared) others have had the same problems with it killing batteries. Googling also turns up several folks that have had their batteries killed while leaving them in this adapter. So its not just mine. The manual with mine said to only use the 3ah or less, but in looking at the manual for this one that text is no longer there. Maybe a new board workup and change if so go ahead.Amazon product ASIN B016K1UD0E from the specs"" You can use 1.5 Ah, 2.0 Ah, 3.0 Ah, 4.0 Ah and 5.0 Ah XR Slide-on 18V Batteries with this adapter. some tools are awkward with the adapter I am slowly changing to the true 20 volt toolsIt looks like maybe they have fixed the problems. I use it for the 18V circular saw and have to use the small1.5 ah batteries when cutting 2x4s. The adapter adds length to the handle and with the larger batteries the 2x4s hit the battery before cutting all the way through.
I wonder if the killing batteries was because they tried to charge it on the adapter using the old 18 volt charger which is not compatible I leave the adapters in the tools and use the 20 volt charger on just the batteryIt looks like maybe they have fixed the problems.
