Not that I really would go there after what they did but this was listed in a job list this morning.

If they truly revive the gun counter that will be hilarious!

They already ran off nearly every gun owner by making their position super clear. Their CEO didn’t have much luck with his political aspirations so his stunt was done at the shareholders’ expense with no pay off for him or the company.

This is a position within their Field & Stream store that is adjacent to Dicks (one big dick store); F&S has continued to sell most (but not all) firearms at that location.

They could be selling LWRC rifles for $100 with a case of ammo and you got to take your choice of bikini team ladies home with you with a receipt... Still not shopping there.

Sorry, I would be a sell out in that case as long as one of the models were a little thick.

ME TOO! You had me at "take bikini girls home with you"... My wife wouldn't like it, but oh well...

I won't ever buy from them again due to their stance on ar 15 and other gun related products. I hate it for people working there but for the ceo of dicks I've always hoped they would go into bankruptcy .

If someone accepted this position, would they be viewed as a sell-out by the CFF community, or would they be helping to bleed Dick's dry by pulling pay from their coffers?

I just want everybody to have a job... I won't buy anything from those Dicks, but I'm happy for an unemployed person to get a job...

Just because it’s in their name don’t mean they have to act like one!

So much hate, give me a discount and watch the hinges on their doors smoke from me coming and going!

When the CEO of a company sides with anti gun zealots and blames 2nd Amendment and its supporters for crimes we did not do and also gives money to anti groups to fight against our rights... Yes we tend to have hate and will shop elsewhere. I will pay a few dollars more to make sure I don’t support the people who want to take away our rights.
You do you though..

Bravo brother ,bravo....that said, I'd take that deal several times.

Out of curiosity - what if they got a new CEO? Would that change your views at all?
I, too, quit shopping there. I went in a few times to kill time (one near the ice rink I play at), but just got to where I couldnt support them any longer. But would that change if i knew the powers-that-be were changed? Maybe so.

Now we need to be as vigilant at the polls against those who have wronged us (ie Tillis and Cooper) as we are to these busineses

That’s a great question. It’s my understanding that the CEO was the primary driver of the anti-gun BS and was playing into Pittsburgh politics. Apparently the board went along with it because he’s still there.
A new CEO would have to basically do an 180* and go pretty hard pro-2A to counter his predecessor for me to consider spending a dime there. I just don’t see it happening.

If and when this company gets a large enough inventory to the point they are the only supply of ammo left during this current shortage don’t be caught at the door as most will. Are you going to boycott the brands of products they sell as well, think not?

Friend of mine walked into the Dick's store closest to @Jerzsubbie and my work....nada, zilch, zero gun related items in that store. They ditched their entire hunting/fishing/shooting customer base based on the politics du jour.

I can only hope they file chapter 11 soon and have to cede even more market share to Academy or even Dunhams.

Good to see you still frequenting the off topic sections...heavily.

After the length of time you have been here you very well should have learned a few things about those who inhabit this forum. One major of which is that we are actually pretty serious about preserving our rights, and one specific one that we all love, the 2nd amendment. So, as was stated, when someone comes out as strongly as Dicks has as being anti-2A as they have in the past, it really is not difficult for us to no longer shop there. And it is also moronic to think that those of us here, who for the most part have been watching with pity at best, and disdain at worst, at those currently struggling to purchase a single box of 9mm would ever been in a situation where "Dicks is our only hope!".

Though rare in todays world, integrity is actually something that matters to a few of us. And if one so happily supports an entity that has gone above and beyond to label them a danger to be vilified, then that individuals level of integrity falls woefully short of any standard that most here would consider adequate.

It would be different if they just said “We’re not going to carry the popular AR rifles anymore.” That’s a business action. But they went further and wrote letters to Congress detailing what they wanted in taking ARs from US! Why would you support anyone whose actions are completely opposite of the way you think? THAT is why I’ll never grace their doors again!

Well, maybe - it would depend on that CEO's views on 2A and how he/she applied them to company & store policy. I wouldn't start shopping there again if, say, my favorite niece got the job (unless her views, etc.)

I think it is important to give a business a chance to respond to market pressures and public response. I stopped shopping at Dick's when it became obvious they were 2A dicks. IF they were to change course and just stop woking & politicking (as in going neutral, no donations to Moms Demand, no holier than thou posing, no virtue signalling), I'd likely consider shopping there. If they reversed course and began supporting the 2A with words and funds, I'd be more likely to shop there (note I dint say "buy" - they'd still have to be competetive).

But if they're fighting against my Constitutional Rights,

For clarity, let me quote myself...this ad is for a position behind the EXISTING gun counter in the Field & Stream store, located adjacent to Dicks in Fayetteville; F&S is owned by Dicks and Dicks does all the hiring actions for their F&S chain...and Dicks removed all hunting & fishing from its stores and into their F&S stores.

Yes, Dicks is demonstrated anti and earned our collective disdain for their brand, but continues to sell firearms (except "black rifles") and ammo through their F&S stores...Dicks is NOT going to start selling firearms in "Dicks" stores.

Doesn’t matter if it’s Dicks or F&S, they are one and the same entity. I quit both the minute dicks dicked us. It seems like many did the same as most F&S stores are now gone.

I didn't know there were separate F&S stores. All I've seen were inside the main store.

Still, no matter to me. They've got nothing I want.

That would be a hell of a loss for them. I'd take them up on that.

Heck, you could come out even better by getting your money back by turning the rifles in on a "gun buy-back" program for $100. (Just be sure to destroy the barrel rifling so the police buying them won't get a good product. And keep the magazines.)

if i want to rationalize - i'll buy stuff from anybody if the price is low enough that i know they're losing money on it.
but i'll ONLY buy stuff they're losing money on from some places.

The point of loss leader items is to draw people in and get them to like your shop, spend more money on other things, etc. If I know i'm not going to spend more money on other things at a shop i'm never going to like again... I may be willing to help you lose money on a firearm, lose money on its shipping/storage costs, lose money on the clerk you pay to sell it to me, etc.

That being said, I don't think i've bought anything from D/F&S in a looong time. Last thing I did was before they went all anti, and it was because they were selling a pistol i wanted for $100 less than anybody else.
