Dick's Sporting Goods ain't doing so well

But do they still sell Camelbacks and other Vista Outdoor Products? Or have they done like REI and cut off any vendors associated with firearms? Maybe Dicks needs to follow REI's lead to lure all the gun grabbers into buying from them?
You should send Dick's a suggestion; management would probably appreciate it and act on it immediately. :D

I still buy golf items from Dick's.

I understand the negative effect from gun owners but in reality, I also respect that every business should be able to sell to whomever they please. While this libertarian concept certainly makes me appear as a hypocrite since I am a gun owner, it's really simple to me.
I just prefer not to spend my money with a company that openly speaks out against any rights. I use to spend a lot of money at field and stream, now I go to Orvis or wait until I’m towards Bass Pro.

You can’t lose another even 5 percent of your sales in retail now. Online shopping such as Amazon is bankrupting companies all over the country. Your sales must go up annuallly and Dick’s is not only alienating gun and ammo customers but the the same customers who bought shoes, cleats, ball bats, workout gear, etc... My son went down and told the manager he is never coming back again for anything. They are hearing this over and over. Next year they will be Toys R Us who just announced all their stores closing. Academy is killing the Dick’s Hickory store and it’s going to get ugly for soon.

Academy has a terrible fishing section, that’s my only problem with them.

I bought a basketball from Derps for my brother in law at Christmas. Won't be doing that again. Buying from Derps, that is.

Does anyone care? Didn't everyone stop buying from them when they price gouged during one if the scares? I stopped going to their site.
Back in 2013 they pulled a real dick move screwing over customers who had ordered and paid in advance for product. I wasn’t a regular shopper there before and haven’t been back.

I don’t like the move by REI, either. The advantage we might have with them is that it’s run as a co-op and you might have just a little more say, seeing as you get to vote for the board of directors. If enough people objected they might take action,.

I wrote Dick's off after their Sandy Hook stunt.

Fast forward to now.

I have kids who are now starting sports, so when I needed to go buy my son soccer cleats, shinguards, socks, shorts, soccer net, and soccer balls, did I go to the Dick's conveniently located down the road from me? No, I did not. Because of their past and latest stunt.

Surely I'm not the only gun owner who will no longer go there for anything now.

I kind of get the feeling that amongst non gun owners and especially the anti left that “assault weapons” (and I despise that made up term) are somehow different and “true” gun owners have no interest in them. If so, this miscalculation could prove costly.Eventually, most gun oweners, at least those who are active and interested realize the importance of supporting all aspects of the 2nd (and other constitutionally recognized rights), even those you don’t personally are too much about.

I've encountered more hunters than I can count that have zero interest in handguns, carrying them, or AR's and AK's are all aboard on AWB. It seems there is quite the spectrum of gun owners.

You are not alone.

Bingo! I haven't spent a penny with "Lower Than Dirt" since Sandy Hook. They keep sending me their catalog and I keep tossing it in the recycle bin unread.

And I would have to respectfully disagree with you. You're giving them way more credit than they deserve. When you're down nearly 30% over the past year, I can't imagine why anyone would think that would be a good time to alienate any customers regardless of how small of a percentage their sales account for. Because as someone pointed out above, the loss in sales will now not only be in AR's (which they quit selling awhile back), but also everything else which would have been bought by the people who will now no longer shop there.

I don't believe dicks saw the move as alienating people, but trying to to play the political game of having people give them credit for making this move away from AR's, in hopes to bring more people in for the move they made.

If your boat is sinking with 5 good size holes in it, plugging up one hole ain't going to make much of a difference anyways, no matter which side you think dicks was trying to cater to by this move.

My honest opinion is I don't think "gun people" bought there to begin with. I know I haven't. They lost my business a long time ago which was $0 to begin with.

As noted by others "who cares?". I know I don't.

That used to be all I used Gander Mountain for too. It might be worth a breif conversation with the local store manager. Fishing isn't very controversial, and bringing in some new products shouldn't be too hard.

I never bought a gun from dicks but did but a whole lot of shoes and other sports gear. Since Sandy Hook I've found other places, like Academy, to buy from. Like Patrick Henry I regret I can only boycott them once.
I'd be curious to know how Academy and Dicks financials compare since Sandy Hook.

Used to go to Dicks in Myrtle Beach, now go to Sportsman's Warehouse in Wilmington. Got a WalMart 3 miles from the house between the two. Won't be going there either.

I've never liked Dick's, or Sports Authority for that matter. Too damn pricey and upscale stuffy. Got sold on Academy when I lived in TX and now with one in Apex, I am good to go (but even they have stopped putting guns in the weekly ads for a while)

I spoke too soon, I just got the weekly add in my email box and the guns were back! I guess they got pushed out for a while for fishing, baseball, and spring break :)

My wife and I get 3 points each on the Dick’s app daily as long as we register at least 10,000 steps on Fitbit. For every 300 points they send us a $10 reward. So, every 4 months or so, I go to Dick’s use $20 reward on golf balls (yes, I lose lot of golf balls) and walk out...not a penny out of my pocket, playing with house money.

Looks like all you yellow snake icon golfer people hang pretty tight at Dickies.

Haven't bought anything gun related from Dicks in awhile but used to go to F&S. Walked into F&S today and handed in my loyalty card to a manager at the gun counter and let him know I would not be spending another dime at either store. He said he understood and asked if I would like the corporate number to call. This is definitely not the first time this has happened to him and am hoping that it's not the last.. There was only two people in the gun section and both heard/saw the exchAnge.

I have made some friends at Dick's over the years. It used to be a regular stop after work on the way home. One of them ended up opening and managing the Asheville F&S. I still used to drop by now and then to visit and pick up a brick of .22 Blazer's when they have them. This was only a few weeks ago. (Interesting, the South Park store was the only one that ever had them.)
But, no more.

It's increasingly obvious that, without the power of central government in their hands, the Left is utilizing it's other tools- corporate boards, financial institutions, State agencies and governments - to destroy the 2A.

Like Morgan told Nick on the last Episode of Fear TWD, "it's not going to work out how you (they) think it will"

I support their right to run their business the way that they want to, but I also support our right to take our business elsewhere when the company insults its customer base.

Prior to Sandy Hook, Dicks was one of the stores I'd hit regularly for .22 ammo, camping gear, etc. Bought a few guns there over the years. I'd only gone to dicks once or twice since Sandy Hook, but after their recent stunt, I'll never go in one again. Cabelas is a bit of a haul for me, but I can manage to make a trip out there once a month or so.

Maybe they can sell enough baseballs to keep the doors open? I doubt it.

Really piss Richard Cranium off and use them as targets with your AR, then post on YT.

IF Dick's ends up losing this case in court, I strongly suspect that they'll just quit selling firearms and ammunition all together as a response.
