Did You Go Shooting Today

We tried 3 new targets today. One weighs over 100 pounds and is a Manly Target. 7 visitors today. Brownies and ice cream for the lot.
Yes, and I cannot believe that you get me get away from there without taking a picture of the new target.

My son and I met up with @BigWaylon to shoot some SBR's, especially the AR5.7 and the PS90. We both had a blast, including the 7in. Pun intended. Hahaha

You should have stopped by. It was GREAT!
Since the carrier pigeon missed me, I ran a couple boxes thru the 66 at 25 yards, DA. I’m getting to the point where at least half my shots actually do hit the side of the barn.

Today was great weather. After knocking out some chores that were waiting for good weather, I headed back to the range.
Took the G41, PPQ 5", and a Model 10.
All alone. I like alone sometimes. It allows me to focus on what I want to work on and concentrate.
All 3 of these guns got no problem eating ammo though. Went through 200+ rounds in about an hour.

Hard to over exaggerate this caliber. They are amazing. 190s at 1,900 fps and 110s at over 3,000.

I've been jonezin' for one of those color cased Henries with the octagon barrel in .357Mag for a while, but since I've gotten the Max, I've been eyeballin' those Henry Single Shots in .357Mag to have reamed to .357Max. With that barrel length & some slow burnin' powder, you get ridiculous velocity over & above what an old wheelgun can do.

I could push those 200s harder with 1680 & likely will at some point, but not till I get more hands on experience loading for it. I'm gonna get acquainted with the ol' girl with the current load, then play with some screamin' 180s for a bit.

Went shootin' both days this weekend. It was awesome. Good friends and good shootin'.

Saturday was with @Bullseye Baldee and another friend at FLD. Stretched my AR out to 600 yards. Shot my 44 mag Rossi rifle to 100 yards and got the scope dialed in. Then we finished up by punishing the steel on the 25 yard pistol range with my 460 S&W. The Corbon 395gn loads can really rattle the plate!

Sunday, Mrs. Toprudder and I met up with another friend at TSA. Mrs. Top brought 3 guns (Ruger SR22, Sig P238, CZ97) and I just brought my S&W 1911. My friend brought his Taurus G2C. He let me shoot that and I was somewhat impressed, as it was fairly accurate. I returned the favor and let him shoot my 1911. Mrs. Top shot more than either of us, somewhere around 150 rounds. She was doing pretty well with the CZ, I think the trigger time on the SR22 has helped her a lot.

Finally had time to go to TSA in Raleigh this morning, tried my used Beretta 85F used police trade, shoots nice.
Swapped the barrel on my Beretta M9 22LR with a factory threaded one, shoots sweet with my Sparrow suppressor
and ran some more rounds in my Sig Mosquito also suppressed.

Hey BP, how do you like your Sig Mosquito? I like mine a lot, feels real good in my hand, is accurate, but is quite picky with ammo. Only 40 gr or greater, high velocity (1200 fps or higher). Actually it likes Remington Thunderbolt. What about yours?

Yes indeed.
A couple hundred rounds of 9mm. 100+ 45.
And I rented a Sig P365 and put 50 rounds through it. Nice. I like it. Shot decent groups at 10 yards too.
I'll have my wife try it too.

Been using the Winchester .22lr I won four years ago Friends NRA raffle but today I ran CCI minimag, I do clean it every 400 rounds.

Babysitting the grand-kids for a few days. While they were in daycare I wanted to see the Governor Gun Range (https://www.governorsgunclub.com/) which has a indoor skeet and trap range and a 100 yard rifle range for all calibers up to 30. They also have a bunch of pistol ranges. Only brought 9 mm handguns (Walther PPQ and Walther PPS) and my Ruger LCP II. I do not like indoor ranges but wanted to sight in the laser on the PPS and LCP. Ran about 120 rounds of 9 and 70 of 380s. Besides getting finger slammed in the clip on the PPS it was a great day. The ranges are top notch and the showroom with a bunch of different guns was very will displayed. If I had to pick only one 9 mm handgun I think it would be the PPQ. Working on follow-up shots just as the trigger reset, maybe 1/8 of a inch. Really hated to walk away with all the brass on the floor but the place was not a place that you would pick up the brass. BTW, they also had an indoor archery range.

I hope she likes the p365. I also tried one, but it was a bit too light for me, and too lively. If she has big strong hands she might love it. I wanted it to work for me, but....nope! It's a nice gun....maybe if my hands get stronger?

Put 250ish thru my P120, CZ SP01 clone.

Shot a rested group, 2.375" @ 25yds ain't bad for a cheap gun with me steering and no load development. I knew it hit low, now I have a number 5"! Sights are so low already I don't think I'd want another front so not sure the guarantee is worth anything, but guess I'll find out.

Then dots, and on to some transition drills, can't get used to that DA to SA transition.

Only thing of note had one stovepipe, they're so rare for me I stood there staring instead of flicking the brass and moving on.

That's why I'm glad Calibers for it in for a rental. She can also try a Glock 42 .380.

I also tried a Glock 19 and a 42....skinny grips, too snappy for me, not comfortable at all. When I ran across the p238, it was perfect for me! I hope she can find one that's as perfect for her.

Day 2 on the Wizard, same results. Cold turkey, 1911, IWB using a 2/3rd IDPA plate (12"×20" vs. 18"×30") 1.50 to 1.80 for 3,5 and 7 yards, all hits, 2.58 and 2.63 for the 2 at 10 yards.

"The Wizard lives."

I practiced about 10 rounds at the 10 yard and got down to 2.3. I'm pretty happy for just starting out. Lots of work yet to do though..

And no, Billy, I wasn't cheating.. ;)

I most certainly did!
Today I got hold of my very own, first 1911, the RIA in 9mm. I took it to the range (though it's a zoo on Saturdays) and gave it a bit of a workout with 200 rounds. It was hard to get the last 3 rounds in the magazine, but I managed and I suppose the spring will loosen up a bit eventually.
This gun is nice to shoot, and makes a big boom. I love the fat grip, and the heaviness of it. It wasn't my best shooting, but I did get some in the center of the target. Lol. I had fun, and I'm happy.

Tinman and I shot some 9mm on steel then proceeded to 137 yards with the CZ455s to shoot the 4” targets. We sucked because neither of us has any idea our zeroed range since it rained for 6 months. Neither of us had any literature on our scopes with us and couldn’t use holdover. Cranked my turrets but not sure if I even had that much in the scope. I’ll also add I left my 9mm and 45acp ammo sitting in the garage. What a goober I was in preparation today.

Nope, still waiting on getting the stitches out of my right hand. Not healing like it should.

Well, I did manage to get a photo of one of the new targets. The white center is spring loaded to come back upright when hit.

Took the boy to the range this morning. He got to put his first rounds through the AR. He also got to shoot an old single shot .22 short rifle that belonged to a range member that he so graciously offered. Afterwards we hit the pistol bay where he got to shoot my Spartan for the first time. I think he is really enjoying going shooting with the old man.

Cool. Sometimes with new mags I just load them a few short the first few range trips. By the time I trust the gun they are usually all good. Not unusual. Fun and happy is good.

You have another new one? Alright!

Yes, they seem to be flocking to me, don't they? Next range trip will be 3 guns, not 2....it's kind of crazy! I need a bigger bag to carry all my stuff now!
Good for you! A 1911 in 9mm is a great addition to the "family".

I have shot more 9mm 1911/2011 than all other centerfire combined (rifle and pistol). 22LR is way ahead of both, but 9 in a 1911 is a great combination for fun or competition. And I HIGHLY recommend competition. Not to win, but to shoot under some pressure/stress so that you get better under stress.

Shot in 2 gun rimfire yesterday at DPRC. Pretty close to 200 rnds. Did not shoot as well as I would have liked but had a
ton o' fun. Good to see the old crew and meet new folks.

You will be amazed on what you can pack in your range bag.

Late post- range fun last Thursday. Steel targets and ran the new Rem V3 Tac 13 for the first time, a keeper. Being retired, I like the range on Thursdays - no one was at the steel range, it was great. The RO jokingly said you have your own private range...he was on point.
A great day.

What range is this @Patriot?

Shot an IDPA match at the local range.
After all the practice I did this week...it was a disaster.
Ha, you and me both.

USPSA, squeeked out A stage win and near dead last on 6 others. Oddly enough the win was the only stage with no scored errors/penalties.

If I had any awareness of my feet at all I may have managed another.
