Did You Go Shooting Today

Had another hour on the range for some drills and speed shooting. 200 rds of 9mm out of the G17 and 400 rds out of the shorty M4. M4 got real hot, enough I stuck the flash hinder in the snow a few times.

How’s the M17 treatin’ ya?

You will be amazed on what you can pack in your range bag.

One of my ALLTIME favorite episodes!

What range is this @Patriot?

@BlackGun It’s nice and fairly close se to home, so my wife and I shoot as often as weather allows. Saturday’s are usually pretty busy and Sunday’s are half days and busy as well. The less “other” shooters the better.
I don’t go near the range on weekends too many “new” shooters. Closed Mon & Tues.

We had 7 shooters today. Just right for this time of year. We shot Geezer's new 48. I drew from concealment with it and put 8 shots on target from 7 yards in 2.32 seconds. I can't do any better with a 43. You could cover the group with your hand. I killed the Wizard cold with gunbelt's Colt Officer's Model. We had it here for a little work and it is running like crap through a goose. Shoots directly to point of aim. Now it can be loaded and unloaded with the safety ON. He can shoot the rap outta this thing too.
We also put the 43 top on the 48 lower and shot it. Pretty damn spiffy.
Oh and one little last thing...I almost set the whole place on Fire. Thanks to Garvin and Geezer it got put out.

I have a buddy that served in the British military for many years. His weapon in the service was a L1A1 which is a British version of a FN FAL. He had not shot one in many years. I have another friend that is a senior at NC State who is into Shooting and collecting old military guns, and has a FAL. When I mentioned my Brit friend to him, he said he would bring the FAL back with him from Christmas break, along with an old Enfield. So, we all got together today at Frontline and had a blast.

We shot everything at the 100 yard range, then moved to the 500 and I let them shoot my AR out to 500. The kid wanted to try the FAL and was able to hit the 400 steel a few times with open sights. It was the first time he had ever shot past 100 yards.

After the Dixie show, my son and a friend went to our range and shot some rifles and pistols. For the first hour, shot 22s on 50yd steel with irons to warm up, then pistols on the tree at 10yds, then on to sighting in his 5.56 M*P Sport with a excellent Burris RT6 optic. After we started shooting ARs, the neighbors all around us joined in and we heard some glorious bursts of full auto/bumpstock fire. After about 30 minutes of aimed safe rifle sighting, we called it a day around 5:30pm. The full auto fire kept up in bursts. It wasn't 15 mins later ol Johnny Lawdog started slow-rolling past our wooded posted property
The Sheriff Deputy never stopped, but he pulled into the house across the street who happens to also be an LEO, an FFL, and a generally all around great dude. I texted him and asked him if he was at home and he said no. I told him what happened and he was pissed off. Evidently the Full Auto fire that was so glorious upset someone. He slow rolled back by about 10 minutes later after he was done inspecting my neighbors' house without permission.......and again, never stopped.
So despite being in a zone agricultural area, with 2 huge cattle farms on either side of me........I should expect a nice encounter with CabCo Sheriff next time we let freedom ring. I already have my zoning maps, the appropriate ordinance that they will likely lie to me about (500yds from a residential area isn't 500yds from the nearest residence....), and the number of my attorney.
I suspect its the NIMBY neighbor that is across the road, somewhat downrange and to the left since my 2 good neighbors would just text me and ask me if they can come over and shoot.

Can't believe this shit - it's like groundhog day.

Was finally able to shoot some rifles across the Labradar with my little brother. Got velocity from 3 shots while verifying 100 yard zero and then he was able to ring the 12” steel at 485. Cheap first gen Savage Axis 308 (skinny barrel) w rifle basix trigger, Buckmater II scope in a DNZ one piece mount, Hornady 165 SPBT handloads. I’m luving this Labradar!!

I have a friend with a Labradar and I must say I like it! He lets me use it whenever I need to.

I had never heard of the Rifle Basix trigger. I have a skinny barrel Axis that could use a better trigger.

I think the accutrigger is pretty good but I wanted him to start out in the basement and learn that value is a function of quality vs price and that with a decent gear and more quality time shooting a marksman is borne. He got good with the crappy trigger and el cheapo scope that came mounted on it The rifle basics trigger checks that box at less than $100. Got that for him the next Christmas. It can be set incredibly light.

My Axis is the one that did not come with an Accutrigger. :(

Everyone goes gaga over those little triggers with blades. Personally I hate em. Give me a standard trigger blade with a 3.5-4lb trigger all day long that some contraption any day.
The Rifle Basic trigger is great, but Timney makes the world's best single stage triggers IMO.

Well, that killed any confidence I had on the Wizard.

3.2 was the best I could do from iwb at 10 yards and actually put 2 on steel. I was not getting my grip right from the get-go and unable to recover.

Couldn't make noise past 7 yards with the lc9 from the pocket, 0 for 4.

:(

I did. Had another lesson today. Shot the .380 and the 9mm, 100 rd. each. Many targets were chewed up! Shot the .45 some too....still better with it than with any of my personal guns....go figure!
A very good day at the range!

This isn't giving me a lot of confidence that I might be able to hit something!! I want to try it, but.....

Udaman!!!! Cold is what counts.

It's going to take a lot of practice, Millie. I started off really slow but hitting my shots, then faster to the point of missing most shots... then slow again. This isn't a drill that very many will ace the first time and very, very few will ace every time.

Yep, then a few rotations to try to drive home the ole muscle memory, but they don't count as Wizard points.. I'm still trying to get comfortable so I expect it will be awhile before I get the results that I want..

It's a good thing I like a challenge, then....it should be good for some comic relief, if nothing else....

And did I mention I like a challenge???

At Triangle Shooting Academy today, tried out my modified Maglula to load my 9mm 30rd Sten type magazines for my MPA30T pistol,
works well, just need to add two shims so the magazine stays centered, used the Gemtech G45.
Ran 50 and then 50 more in the G22 with 9mm Lone Wolf Alpha barrel. 100 rounds .22 in the Beretta M9 22 with Sparrow suppressor.
Today date night so lots of couples there, the lady next to me kept kicking her brass behind her instead of to the front.;)

I used the maglula 5.56 loader yesterday at the range and it worked flawlessly.

Thanks again for the suggestion!

Yes! 4 boxes of 9mm and 3 targets....the shooting had mixed results....some great, some not!
Still, it was a morning at the range....that's always a good thing!

You Know I don't know much about these commuter things. What does a blue smiley face with shades mean?
Means that’s my place but I’m embarrassed to confirm it because it doesn’t explain why I shoot as I do. :(
