Did You Go Shooting Today

Went to the range today to try some more 300 BO rounds and the CZ 75 that a friend dropped off.
The CZ 75 shot great except it was about 4" low at 15 yards. The sights are not the best as far as coloring goes. Also, this was the firs time wearing the new shooting glasses.

Next was the pistol 300 BO with 3 different loads. First 2 were using the Missouri 215 grn flat point bullets. I was using close to max loads with AA 1680. Had a problem with the bullets being too short. The flat nose was hitting the bottom of the feed ramp and either getting stuck there or was forced up above the chamber. When I did get one to chamber I had no problem with the bolt getting locked back. Next, I shot 35 rounds of 168 sp bullets without a problem. Got the red dot close to zeroed 25 yards. Then moved out to 50 and everything was High 3" and left 1". Ran out of bullets.

QUESTION: would you adjust the red dot to impact, up 3" and left 1 or down 3" and right 1". I adjust the scope to impact but this red dot seem to be working backwards.

Double check to ensure the Red Dot is not mounted 90 degrees off. Seen that happen a few times. Also double check which way the adjustments are supposed to go. If correct. Just remember once zero'd at 25 the rounds will continue to rise until it reaches it high trajectory and start dropping back to the line of sight and then continue to drop.

Before I zeroed my Glock I used the Sig p365 for the wizard drill cold. Didn’t pass but I don’t feel like I binned it either. One shot out of the head and pulled a body shot to the head. Was all in time so maybe next time I’ll pass. Tough drill to do cold.

I put the Vortex Venom on the Ruger 22/45 and took it down to the gun club yesterday evening. I sighted it in from about 25 yards on the rifle range and then took it over to the pistol range. This was the first time I've ever used a red dot sight on a pistol like this and I had a great time. :D

Imagine how well you’d do with a gun that isn’t defective. :D

Good Man!!!! Cold and Concealed it's a real ball breaker. It's also addictive. The beauty is you only shoot it once each range session. Quite a challenge!! Best is you did it with a Tiny Carry Gun.

Yeah I need to get faster on the draw. Appendix carry with the P365 is great and its a good shooter. I just need more time with it and especially on the draw!

Careful, @BatteryOaksBilly might decide he wants 1 (2). :)

20190509_184214.jpg Headed to the range today with a older Springfield Arms 1911 A1 in stainless steel. I have had a complete trigger job done to the gun a few years back but have not shot it much, a S&W 60 (old model), friends CZ 75 and the 300 BO pistol.
I had no problem with the 1911 except the damn magazines. I had the base plate break off the first one after 5 reloads, no problem after I figured why all my rounds dropped out the the bottom of the gun. Grabbed another magazine, loaded it and put it in the gun, closed the slide and click. What the hell is going on? Dropped the magazine, it was for my 3.5" 1911. Too short to feed. Then ran a feel through the 3 magazine.
Grabbed the 60 and when to load it, no 38 ammo.
Grabbed the CZ and it shot great.
Went to the rifle range with the 300 BO. At 50 yards I was about 4" low so made an adjustment. Everything worked perfect. Was using 30 round magazine which are fine if you are not trying to zero in a red dot.

Hit the range for a bit today and saw the Wonderful “Wizard” of Oz. Shot it clean with my Yost BHP from a Milt Sparks VMII under a t-shirt. I cut it close on the time part. I need to work on clearing my cover garment with my off hand. The 2 at 10 is harder than you think it’s going to be. Any flinch or jerk and you lose time and accuracy. Mr. Yost helps me look better than I actually am.

From there is shot “The Test” for shits and giggles. Not cold runs but on the timer with 10 round strings still helps work out the bugs in my grip, sight alignment, presentation and trigger prep.

Then moved out to 25 yards and worked on some accuracy. Always interesting to see how much the groups open up from inside 15 yards vs 25. All rounds shot off hand. Almost everything stayed in a paper plate sized area.

Finished up with a few rounds of Tom Givens Casino Drill. I have been running it reverse these days. Starting at 6 and finishing with 1. Was getting fatigued so last round wasn’t clean. Brought the target into 7 yards put up a orange dot sticker and fired 5 rounds into a nice solid group and called it a day. Always end on a good shot!

Shot the CGW CZ Shadow 2, Yost BHP, GC No Name in 9mm, CGW CZ 75B and a Les Baer TRS today.

Forgot to post this yesterday. I was finishing up my shooting. Working on get off me drills as I call it. Bad breath distance. On the buzzer push target back and then headshots while retreating. Thought this swirl was cool. The powder burn pattern intrigued me.

The wife and I went to TSA for our date night. It had been about three weeks since she had been to the range. She shot extremely well. She shot the Ruger SR22 and her CZ 97, while I shot my Witness steel frame 45 and Witness Stock II 9mm. Good time.

Finally got to the range today...took the wife. Both shot our Taurus PT-111's....about 100 rds. Finally got to shoot my SA 1911 in 9mm.....love everything about it....put about 30 rds thru it. Ran a few mags thru my Shield and then on to my LCR in 9mm I just bought at the gun show. Not used to shooting a snubby and was probably shooting a little further than normal with it....10 yds, grouping wasn't great but it felt great to shoot. Then finally got to run some ammo thru an AR pistol I bought from a member here last year.....shot great and was ringing steel at 100 yds from the get go. Wife shot it also and loved it....she was pretty accurate with it too. First time she has ever shot an AR. Great time.

Went to the range today to help a friend that was in charge of a car rally where the first stop was the gun range. They were going to shoot 10 rounds with a Ruger 22 then off to the next stop. Last stop was in St. Augustine, FL When they left I shot maybe 30 rounds of 22 then to the 500 yard range. Did not have the first long gun with me but shot the shit with a few shooters for an hour.

I'm hanging out at the house waiting for a delivery. Then heading to H20 to do some outside shooting after the match today.
Lord I wish @BatteryOaksBilly waant 3 hrs away. Heck I would drive a gr just to shoot
Lucky for me he's only a little over 2 hours from me, then!

You can go to all the ranges you want, but you're never going to have as much fun as you can at Billy's place....lol.

I did go shooting, at last! A busy week kept me away from the range, but today was the day. Shot 150 rounds in the G19.

(Sounds like not a lot, and it's not....for me. I'm rationing them out so I don't blow through them like I did all winter!)
Sure, we know you can stop anytime. ;)

Lol. Just blew thru 3 more boxes.....and that was just the one gun!

(I wonder if there are therapists who specialize in gun-related issues....hmmmmm.)
Battery Oaks is the only place for our affliction.

Haven’t shot in maybe a couple weeks. Ran thru a couple boxes of 38sp. The good news is I’m still every bit as good as the last time.

I shoot this exact same drill.
Never got that cool powder mark, though...

@KnotRight drives up from Savannah to visit. Just sayin'.....

Too windy and cold yesterday. I was in summer mode with shorts and tee shirt. Went outside and then back inside and took a nap instead. Will try again today.
