Did You Go Shooting Today

Took the Trapdoor 45/70, CZ 527 in 223 and the Savage MK II 22.
Started out and stayed on the 500 yard range.
First up was the 45-70. 8 rounds went down the barrel at the 300 yards steel. It took 5 to figure out where to set the Buffington rear sight. It is very hard to read the markings. Going to have to figure out how to lighten up the sight without screwing up the value of the gun.
After the 45-70, the CZ was up. Started out with 62 grn bullets at 2900 ft/sec. Had a hard time at 300 yards. Went back to the 55 grn at 3000 and no problem.
Last was the Savage. It was zeroed at 100 yards and able to hit golf balls at 110 yards. On the 500 range the closest target is 200 yards. So I turned the turret 1.5 time around and was still 2 feet low. Then maxed out the elevation and was ab out 3 to 4 inches low. Went to the first hash mark down and everything was on 8" steel.
Going to cross post in the rimfire section but what scope are you using on your 22 rifles to shoot from 100 to 300 yards? I have a 20 MOA base that I tried but had no luck with it.

All gone...…...95 degrees.....awful. I am blessed to have shooters drive hours to come give their time.
Always walk away a little smarter after visiting Battery Oaks, your hospitality and knowledge are appreciated.

Yeah, toasty warm today for sure. I went and shot some offhand practice this morning, so it wasn't quite a scorcher yet. Still, once you add a sweatshirt and shooting jacket things warm up pretty quick.

I had a GoPro mounted on the handguard for the fun of it. Warning... the video clip is a bit large.

I function tested my latest 80% Glock that @BatteryOaksBilly and I tag teamed. Billy can get on the bench grinder and have the frame done in just a few minutes...and never use the jig. Then, I drill the holes and assemble. Nothing to it. It ran perfectly.

The first one was a little finicky but we figured out where the problem was and corrected it. The next two have run perfectly from the first round.

I also ran a cylinder full of .357 Magnums through my S&W Model 66.

I did! Took the newly repaired RIA 1911 9mm to the range.....had a couple of issues I'm chalking up to new parts needing to be broken in.

Shot the 1911 .45 50 rounds, and it was wonderful, and the Glock 19, which always does what I need it to do. Loving it more each time I shoot it.

Lots of action at Jim's today, I guess everybody had the day off, and everybody went shooting!

Just got back from testing the 20 MOA rail on the Savage 22 LR and the pistol 223.
Once I got the 22 LR zeroed at 100 yards took a guess at 200 and was 10 to 11 inches high on a guess. I needed about 22 MOA instead if 30 MOA to hit 8" steel at 200. I did not have the correct shooting bag for the front of the gun. Then took the 223 out and ran a 30 round mag with it getting hung up on the 20ish shot. Had to take the upper off to get the round out. Put it back together and no problems. Tried to shot the steel at 200 (another 20 rounds without a problem) with open sights and was around a foot from hitting it.

On the way home I stopped by the smith to see if he had a sling stud for the 22. Come home and mounted it. Here is the Savage sporting the 20 MOA rail and a Harris bi-pod.

No, but my Dad did yesterday.

He just turned 73 in May. He's never owned an AR platform rifle, but a couple months ago, I talked him into it. He picked up a lower, ordered a kit from Del-Ton and I helped him put it together.

He took it out to the range yesterday for its maiden voyage.

I'm pretty sure we have a new Stoner convert.:)

Visited the wonder “Wizard” is Oz today with the EDC X9 and all was well in the emerald city. Then proceeded to shoot 300+ rounds through my Zenith MP5 clones. Both ran like a champ. Let my Brother in Law and some of his friends tuna mag through the Z-5RS. They enjoyed it. First time most of them had ever seen a MP5 clone in real life before.

That is awesome. Never to old...

Special range treat is that the wife went with me today. That limited me to the 10/22 and the Heritage Arms 6 shooter. Was just breaking out the Tomcat .32 when we ran out of time.

Days like today make me wonder if divorce is actually imminent or not.

It seems like they are getting really strict as of late, it wasn't like that b4. Some of the RO's are getting real anal, thought I was going to get in trouble yesterday when the AKV started bump firing lol
Nice. It is a nice range but a bit restrictive on what you can do. I shoot there a couple times a month.

Today @doose , @Millie , @Button Pusher , Allen, @Geezer , and me. Most had 2 hour plus rides, to them, Thanks So Much. I'll let Millie report on our 400 + round, 6 shooter, 6 mags, 5 kinds of ammo Phillipine Torture Test. The slide got so hot you wouldn't want to hold it with your bare hand.
We had a wonderful Sunday Dinner and then RS brought out dessert. All in all a learning day for all. I learned I have a CZ Turd and life goes on.

Shot a couple hundred rounds on Tight Squeeze. Beat the couch but not real productive. If I could get my reloads right I suspect I'd level up one quickly, so slow.

It sure was good seeing @Millie , @Button Pusher , and @doose again today. I hope everyone made it back home safely. A lot of rounds were fired and a good and safe time was had by all.
I made it home and just posted a report! A great day! Thanks for all the help with my "precious" today. lol.

Enjoyed my day with everyone at Battery Oaks. :) Appreciate the hospitality and conversations.
Shot some .22 pistols with suppressor, the .380 Beretta 85, Pico and the Taurus Spectrum.
Millie tried my M&P 15x 5.56 at 100yd hitting some steel!

Got home short time ago, normal I-95 traffic.
