Did You Go Shooting Today

Went to FLD today to sight in my AR pistol with the new 12.5” upper and Crossfire II LPVO and to try out the CZ 455 I got from @CZfool68. It was a bit chilly and windy but had little problem getting the lpvo zero’d at 100 yds

It was more difficult with the 455 but the Weaver T36 made it easy to spot where the bullets hit :) Couldn’t get it totally dialed in but, man, that is a sweet shooting rimfire once I figured out not to breath on the Rifle Basix trigger to avoid premature shots lol

I also function checked my RM380 and Glock 48 on the steel plates but only shot 20 rounds each because my hands were frozen. All in all, a great day at the range

That trigger is adjustable if you need to add a little weight. If I remember it’s around 1 lb now. :D

Went to play around with a can on the 223. Started out with in on a CMMG 16" then tried on a 7.5" pistol. The can fit onto the CMMG and would not fit on the 7.5". Took the bird cage that came off the 7.5 and it screwed on the CMMG so the treads have to be the same. Then took the muzzle break that came on the CMMG and it would fit on the 7.5. Not sure why the threaded end cap would not screw on the pistol AR. Any ideas?
Next headed to the 500 yard range with the 6.5 and I had 40 rounds of ELD 140 loaded with Shooter's World Long Shoot. Windage was good but at 400 years I was 1 whole MOA off. Per the notes on the box they were only loaded to 2550 FT/sec. I am thinking that is too slow and I should stick with H4350 or RL 16 or 17.

Broke out the big hardware today. Been carrying these a bit so it's always good to knock the cobwebs off.

Put a few 45LC rounds down range as well just to get the wheelgun checked off for the year. A friend has some 45LC dies I'm going to borrow to reload the brass from the lot I fired today.

I shot less than a magazine in the G19....and since I hit very little that I aimed at, it's good I didn't waste a lot of ammo. lol.

But it's always a pleasure to see everyone at Battery Oaks! I got to see some excellent shooting!

Yep. Took a buddy and his dad to the range. Buddy had bought his first AR, an M&P 15. His dad had never shot an AR. He was most surprised at the lack of recoil. His dad has also never shot with a silencer, and really learned a lot.

Theirs:
M&P 15
1911 (.45)
Some other pistols that I didn’t pay much attention to

Mine:
15-22 SBR w/ Form 1 can
16” 5.56 AR w/ YHM Turbo
4” 9mm AR pistol w/ Form 1 can
7.5” 5.56 SBR
11.5” AR pistol

Went to my club for its Open Skeet Shoot to bust a lot of clay targets. Hit: 21-20-23-23.

Really want to try. I've found myself looking for a shotgun to do it with. The one I have is a pump with an 18.5" barrel.

I watched some guys shooting at clays on you tube with a 12 gauge firearm similar to mine......

Got out for the first time in months today. Shot okay, but slow, wrist strength and recoil control have gone to pot, can’t follow the sights when the wrists break.

Shot a 44mag pistol today, first for me, it goes booooom! Far more recoil than the 41mag.

I bought Tommie a Ruger LCR 38 at the Dixie show, and she did great with it, and the rest of mine and Millie’s handguns. Millie helped her a lot, and I thank her for her help.

Here’s a few pics of our outing. Target pic is Tommie’s with my Kimber 45.

Your wife is a natural shooter! Everything she picked up, she was great with....I've seen a lot of shooters, never saw anything like her! LOL.
She handled that little 4 ounce gun like a champ! LOL. Seriously, that thing weighs nothing at all!

I had a great time, thanks for the invite and for being a distraction for me today after a rough morning with my beloved Buddy.

Shot two new guns, the Kimber in 10mm and Inland M1 carbine pistol. Also brought along an old favorite the W German p220.

Spyderco knife to adjust the front sight.

The Inland was a lot of fun, no recoil with fireballs, very accurate at 25 yards.

You’re right, she’s a natural. We’ve been married 15 years, but haven’t been shooting but a few times. She started the range session not liking semi autos, but we surely changed her mind! Bad thing is she’ll be shooting better than me before long....

Ask her if she would like to try some of my rimfire rifles with the suppressor and a few other interesting rifles.

I’m sure she would. I’ve considered getting a suppressor myself, but don’t look forward to the waiting times.
Every day you consider instead of buy is another day wasted. :p

Today was partly Sig p238 day. After shooting it on Monday, I remembered how nice it is to shoot. I gave it 75 rounds today.
I gave the G19 about 100 rounds.

Not trying to think about my "groups," just having fun, listening to the big noise, smelling the gun-powder, watching the fire come out of the Sig, feeling the recoil.....it was a good day. lol.

This weekend....... Get to shoot my very first suppressed 300 blackout. Oh yeah I'm excited..
You’ll get to realize how low a buffer spring actually is. That’s what I remember about shooting suppressed 300BLK the first time.

Function tested a new WC 300 HAMR build today in the rain. Worked great... we quit when it started pouring.

This gun will be formally tested next week at Battery Oaks Range and also run at the Battery Oaks Indoor Lab to gather some data.

The build uses a hydraulic buffer similar to some of the military weapon buffers. It shoots soft...

Thanks to my assistant for her help in the rain!!

Went yesterday. Put about 90 rounds of Browning 124 grn. ball through my Canik TP9SF. Just wanted to check out my new specs. Wow. I can't remember the last time I could see a sharp clear sight, lol!

I had a guy next to me that asked what I was shooting and if I could teach him to shoot! I laughed and explained how I was making a raggedy hole in the target. Light trigger, just a good shooting gun. Some skill involved too. I let him have a go at it and he still sucked but said he understood how much difference a trigger can make. He wasn't pulling shots off center, just high. I suggested he practice dry fire with snap caps and told him about stuff like LaserLyte. That sort of thing makes a huge difference for me. I need to take my own advice instead of shooting money down range!

I was standing and talking to him when he grabbed his gun off his bench and was waving it around as he talked. I made an excuse and didn't take the .357 wheel gun out, packed up and left after reminding him to keep that thing pointed down range.

On Saturday I help a friend build his first lower and asked if he and his son would like to go shooting today. His answer can we try the AR lower we just built. So today we headed to the range and they brought a Mossberg 22 tactical, AR 15, single shot 12 GA and 410 and some CZ 1911. After they shot their guns I let them shoot an AR-15 pistol and AR-9 pistol. To end off the shooting in the combat bays I let them shoot a 1911-22 suppressed. I then asked if they would like to shoot out to 100 yards with the a 22 so we headed to the rifle range. They grabbed the Mossberg and I told them to put it back up and grab the hard case in the truck. It was a Savage MKII 22 with a 3x9 scope and thumb hole Boyd stock. I told the son to put a tennis ball on the berm and both of them hit the ball a few times. I looked at them and said that was too easy, let make this harder. Then gave the son a golf ball to put on the berm. Son first shot hit the ball and after a couple of shots the father hit the ball. They were in 7th heaven.
On the way out, we stopped by the 500 yard range to see some friends. They asked where my gun was and I told them we were just playing around in the combat bay and 100 yard range. One of the guys showed the son how to shoot out to 500 yards with his 6.5 CM. Then asked the may 10 year old if he ever shot a high power rifle and the son said no. So Jerry setup his gun and explained to the son what to do and after a few dry fires he put a round in the chamber and adjusted the scope to 300 yards. Son pulled the trigger an hear a BING. He turned around with the biggest smile on his face but I think the father was more excited.
Good day and I only shot maybe 10 rounds.

Suppressed shoot was awesome. This is gonna hurt my bank account..... Wife is gonna kill me before this is over. Pray for me.
I told you to just blame it on me.

Wife and I walked into church last night and the 2nd person we speak to looks right at my wife and says “your husband is a bad influence on mine”. Wife says “yeah, pretty soon it’ll be stuff piled up in every corner”. :D

He bought his first AR a couple weeks ago and I took him and his father to the range last Sunday afternoon. Probably 3rd or 4th time I’ve taken him, but first taking his father. I let him shoot multiple suppressed ARs (rifles and pistols). Was also the first time his dad has shot an AR, or anything suppressed.

Shot registered trap at Buckhorn Gun Club yesterday. Had a great time!! Hit my best score ever in singles hitting 89/100. This earned me a win in D-class and some beer money! Also had an almost win in 'caps' (handicap 'short' 20yd line for me) with hitting 83/100, the winner hit 84. This time I used top quality shells (Win AA's 1-1/8, 1145fps, #8 for singles, Rem Nitro 27's, 1-1/8, 1235fps, #7-1/2 for caps) and switched back to a trusty factory choke.
