My mom was staying with us this weekend and while cleaning my guns after going to the range I loaded my carry gun up. My mom said “Did you just load that gun?” I looked at her and said it’s not much good without bullets lol.
She is used to being around Firearms but not really carrying them.

And my mom says stuff like "Hurry up so I can clean mine" :D

I’ve had a few comments at Thanksgiving or Christmas when visiting family. No arguments or disapproval - just puzzled that I would still carry “when visiting family.”

Telling them that not expecting trouble and being unprepared for trouble are not the same thing and one should not drive the other usually gets a shrug. Long years of safe living will do that to folks.

When I was carrying a SA Ultra Compact, I was asked by a member of my family, "Is the hammer back on that gun?"

Yes. Yes, it is.

My Mom never really got concerned with me & the guns. Dairy farm boy, I grew up around them and started at a young age.
I've done some dangerous stuff and jobs over the years. The only thing that Mom ever bit her fingernails over was the motorcycles. She hates the motorcycles, which I believe is SOP for Mom's.

Yep, my mom is 90 and still fusses at me for riding motorcycles.

I'm just hoping nobody will notice anything....I do NOT want to get into a big "thing" with my family over guns. They don't "approve" of guns.
Lots of the time they don't approve of me, actually....LOL.

Limit your time with those who disapprove with you. Makes life a lot better. I know I know but it's family, too bad. If they make my life worse I don't make time for them. Gotta be me...

No law says you hae to spend lots of time with family. Sometimes it's better to hang with friends. Didn't someone say family is just an accident of birth? Life is too short to be miserable and spend time with people you don't get along with.

No, I love my family, but I'm the black sheep of the group and they just don't "get" me....and we don't see each other very often anyway.

I see them rarely....it's kind of a sad thing for me that we don't interact more often.

Same here. Heard that from my Mom this weekend. I was like "before I came here, I was at Walmart. Everyone there is armed" lol.

Leaving the Salisbury show, I asked the cop at the door to cut the zip tie on my pistol. He handed it back to me and said, "Don't forget to load that". :)

Both of my brothers, my sister and my 75 year old mom and dad all have carry permits. Attack our picnic at you peril.
I sat next to @gunbelt so I knew I was safe. :D

So, he could tell by just looking at ya, huh?

Stuff like that made moving to a whole other side of the world a lot easier :)

A few years ago, I asked my mom if she was ever gonna get her permit and her profanity laden response about freedom would have made many here proud lol.
Shes 78 and been carrying the same S&W Model 60 in her purse since about 1970 lol.
