Been off chasing cowboy guns for a few years & feeling the need for another stamp.

First of all, this'll be my first post-41A stamp. Can someone point me toward a how-to? Or talk me through it? I've got a trust set up already & have my .22lr can & .300blk SBR in it, but don't know what's what with the new requirements.

I'm really digging what I'm reading about the Energetic Armament Vox-K. And the price, I mean, let's be totally transparent here. The Dead Air Armament Sandman K also looks very appealing. Any reason to choose one or the other? Do we have a vendor/sponsor who carries the Vox-K? I know @TARHEELSTATE carries the Dead Air stuff, so that's good.

The can will be dedicated to my SBR AR. It's currently wearing a 10.5" barrel, but I will be going to a 7.5" or 8" barrel to keep the OAL as short as possible. My intent is for this gun is primarily subsonic use, I've got other ARs to play the velocity game with & want to enjoy the .300blk as it was designed. I know I'll want 1:7 for the heavies, but what's the minimum reliable barrel length? I've seen 7.5"ers for sale, but I see Seekins has a nice 8"er with 1:7 5R rifling. With the Vox-K, an 8"er would give me an effective barrel length of 12.9".

Any pros/cons/tips on the barrel length? Going direct thread, as it's not coming off & will be tucked up into that fat 9.5" Seekins MCSR handguard. Tips on a foregrip?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I know Barnes offers a 7.5" pistol & assuming Andrew wouldn't send something out that didn't work.

Dave- once everything's done & together, we'll hafta meet up at Bill's & take 'er for a spin.

Anybody have any opinions on Sandman-K vs. Vox-K?

Yes.

If you’re still sticking to this statement:

Going direct thread, as it's not coming off & will be tucked up into that fat 9.5" Seekins MCSR handguard.

Then the Sandman lineup is not an option.

That makes it easy, then. Lol!

Anyone on the board a dealer?
Scott should be able to get you one, assuming they’re still in stock. I know he deals with Allen. EA posted this on 5/15:

Scott?

It's not that I'm set on direct thread, but I want to keep everything as light & as short as possible & figured if the can isn't coming off it would be the simplest way to go.

Just know one of the advantages of the QD setups is that they usually don’t have the possibility of getting themselves loose while shooting, which is one of the main causes of baffles strikes.

With direct thread, you’d definitely want to be able to grip it and check for tightness. Might even consider using rocksett if you’re dedicating it to the one build. A Turbo K would’ve been a great option based on most of your requirements, but is a 5.56 can.

Very cool. Thank you.

The Vox-K on a 8" barrel would leave me about 3" of can pokin' out of the handguard. I'll go ahead & Rocksett it though, just to be safe.
