Barrel is 11.5" but with muzzle device it's 12" long.

I've also been looking for back pack to carry the essentials that doesn't have webbing or screams "tacticool"

I’ve come to believe that a violin case/tennis racket case may be discreet, but it does make a pretty good target for thieves because sporting goods and instruments are easily pawned.

I recommend a diaper bag.

Seems like someone here used a cheap folding chair bag with the cardboard in it to keep its shape. I thought it was a great idea, but I can't remember who it was. Not exactly accessible but if you're talking leaving it in the car I think it is less likely to be stolen than a tennis racket or musical instrument.

Those foam pool noodles can be sliced up to keep the shape of the case.
I have an older laptop case that I use now and then.

On second though...looks like I'll build another AR "pistol." If it does get stolen it's not a like I'm out of a SBR. Yes, the relativity of same rifle but with different stocks classifying it as a pistol vs SBR is absolute horse dung.

Cheaper red dot and ready to roll.

+1

I think that makes a lot more sense than taking your SBR when you're out and about. Though I definitely would not leave in the vehicle overnight/extended periods of time, given how frequently firearms are stolen form vehicles.

That's how I roll. I have a pistol lower for travel, SBR lower for home. Swap the upper. Only difference between the 2 is SBX-15 brace vs LWRC Ultrac compact stock. They are functionally identical...

how do you like the LWRC?

BINGO! Why make your case look like something that could be sold quick? Quicker than a gun even.

If I'm being discreet the SBR goes into a ratty old camp chair bag and I pile the kids crap around it.

I just paint the flash hider bright red and leave it on the back seat.

Joking

Maybe

Thought: no case, buy a locking mount and mount it in the vehicle securely. Someone makes a nice rack that'll lock any long gun with a trigger guard. Just need to find it...
