Do you secure your carry gun at the end of the day?

I keep all but my home defense weapons locked in the safe. My EDC gun is kept in the holster and put in safe, swapped out for my night time guns. I keep one hand gun out in my stand drawer, and under my wife's side of the bed in an 870 12 gauge in cruiser safe. Wife and I each have our cell phones on our night stands.

My routine is very similar to yours. Come in, switch out EDCs for home defense setups and the EDCs goes into the safe. I do not clear it before placing it in the safe, however every morning when I switch out to the EDCs I always press check them.

I have a small single pistol safe I normally use. Tucked into my sock drawer.

I have numerous weapons staged around the house so I’m never more than a few steps from at least one. Whatever I’ve been carrying goes back in the safe when I get home.

Unless we have company coming over with kids. Then I secure mine and I have to make my kids secure theirs. My kids have their own safes too.

Homeschoolers. What can I say? Some of the stereotypes have to be true. LOL

I do let them leave their melee weapons out though. They need a little bit of leeway to be able to recruit their own armies/followers.

I am like Jeppo. I have a handgun within 20' of where I am. All loaded. When I bring the gun in from the car, it goes on top of the fridge. Bedroom has my pocket EDC and 2 handguns. A loaded Mossberg in the closet. All guns in the safe are unloaded and no ammo in the safe.
BTW, there are no kids around. When grandkids come around half of the stage guns are moved.

Nope. Unless I’m grabbing stuff for the range, my safe only gets opened once every month or so for some random reason.

I can get to 6 guns before I get out of the bedroom. And before I open the safe, which is open most of the time anyway. I have options.
Discussions, discussions... Hmmm... shotgun... rifle... or maybe a handgun tonight. Optic or irons? Light? What to choose?

EDC goes in safe. Small safe kept in nightstand with home gun. Gets unlocked as soon as EDC goes into safe. Gun in car stays there unless I don’t park in garage.

EDC becomes BUG at bedtime. I will most likely deploy the shotgun if woken by an intruder. Otherwise EDC is within reach. Always.

I have the firm belief that dicking around with too many "rotation" guns will get you killed. I don't switch EDC unless necessary, and I certainly don't want to forget a thumb safety, or some other BS while under duress. While I and MRS. own several for differing reasons, the EDC is always the EDC.

What is stored in the main safe is always cleared.

Yeah I’m never more that 3 action hero moves away from a weapon.

No. If its not on me its in a kitchen drawer. There's always something loaded within 20 feet. If the grand kiddo comes over, everything gets locked up.

I am an action hero and need no weapon!
I am alll that is man!

Oh, who am I kidding? Two bad knees, a half bum shoulder, a twenty five year old lower back injury, and need four Tylenol to simply get outta bed.
There's a gun within 25 feet no matter where Im at in the house
.

If a defensive tool is in a safe, what good is it?

My EDC hardly leaves the holster. Gets taken off the belt and put on the nightstand. Reverse the sequence in the morning.

Except when the Grands are over. Then it's on me or locked.

I carry from the moment I get up until the moment I get in bed (excepting shower time when it is stashed within reach). My EDC is in the nightstand drawer while I am in bed. Everything else is locked up except when in use. This is the ritual that I need, for logistical reasons.

Yessir, when my boys were 11 & 13 & the house construction was almost done, several illegals came to the front door telling my wife they were there to do some work. Nope. The 13 y/o got behind here with a Win 1300, the 11 y/o slid out the back and posted up at the front corner with an AR.
Juan,Pedro, Jose, etc chose to pick another victim out in the country.

Nobody inside "The Fortress" but me, RS and Mr. Bullitt. All visitors here are always armed. Only two small people in and when they are stuff is secured. When RS took the Utah Class the instructor asked...Where do you keep your guns in your home?. When he came to her she said..There is No room in our home that I have to Leave to get a gun...He replied..Yes Mam, I know who you are.
We recently committed and stored all guns but 6 Glocks in the house, two in cars, 2 ARs in the house, and 3 Minis, one at each entrance. The Battery Oaks is far from impenetrable, but also not to be considered a soft target. Shooting ports for a crossfire of all entrances and much electronic alerts.
The single weak point to our home is not a thought out plan, alerts, fences, firearms, and quick access to them, but an old man prone to impromptu napping.

Whether in safe or on me or bedside, anything in a holster is loaded. Nothing else is.

LOL, we're all legends in our own minds.

My doc constantly reminds me of that when I complain of something new that hurts. He tells me to grow up and stop doing whatever it is that causes the pain. While I'm not entirely comfortable with his high tolerance for my pain, overall, he's right.:(

My various "room" guns are all loaded and ready to go, in their space in each room.

My carry gun is on me all the time, or within easy reach. It spends the night on the bedside table, in a holster, ready to go if I need it. In the morning it's on my hip again, and it remains there till it's on the table again. I figure the less messing about I do with the guns, the safer I'll be.

I don't have kids. There's no reason to secure my handgun at the end of the day. It usually ends up on the dresser as a backup to home defense. There's generally a few handguns stashed around the home.

Hey - kids need home defense too !
