Do you secure your carry gun at the end of the day?

I donā€™t have this problem. Each handgun is completely safe.

EDC gun goes in the safe so its not misplaced after I get home. Nightstand gun (G45) stays in the nightstand. Car gun (S&W 38spl) stays in the car. Occasionally I change up the rotation and stick the 12g by the bed. Thats only if I think the zombies are coming.

Most guns are locked up in the safe unless I'm using them, working on them or my EDC. EDC is always on me or within reach.

CD

My EDC stays on me until I'm getting into bed, and then it's on my nightstand along with my keys, wallet, and flashlight. Benelli M4 stays loaded and in the closet on the top shelf. S&W Shield 9mm in the wife's nightstand. Wanting to build an AR to add to the roster.

Full size and ultra compact 1911s in my nightstand pop-up safe. One of them in pants if I leave home not headed to work. Put it right back when I get home though. Wife and I practice opening the safe regularly, though I'd like to have more locations around the house for more pistols.

My great aunt kept tissues and scissors in every room of her house. Me, I keep guns. Lots of guns.

Out of reach of the 3 foot apprentice. While there are still places that are "out of reach".

When I remove my carry gun it stays in its holster and goes on a shelf above the bed, where I can retrieve it quickly.

Unless we have company coming over with kids. Then I secure mine and I have to make my kids secure theirs. My kids have their own safes too.

Homeschoolers. What can I say? Some of the stereotypes have to be true. LOL

I do let them leave their melee weapons out though. They need a little bit of leeway to be able to recruit their own armies/followers.

I like the way you think. We are kindred spirits. :D

No.
It stays within 6ā€™ of my bed and I have a Tac-14 with an Sb brace right beside my headboard. Also have three Heelerā€™s outside nearby that keep over watch and can hear a gnat fart a hundred yards away

I keep mine hanging from paracord attached to hooks in the ceiling. Suspended right about eye level, 3-4 in each room. (only 2 in the bathroom) I keep loaded mags and loose ammo scattered on the floor in each room of my house, and attached to the walls and behind each door with 3M tape.

How do you fellows keep your shower guns from collecting moisture? I've double bagged mine in ziplock, and hung it from the shower head with a rope (like soap on a rope) but after a few days it still gets moisture inside. I've thought about those plastic otterboxes, but I worry the gun would fall out too easily if I tried to remove it quickly with soapy hands.

edc stays in my right front pocket till I go to sleep, then it goes into a tray with keys, wallet, and phone. night stand gun is also my car gun. I bring it in when I get home and it gets placed on the nightstand when I change from work clothes to around the house clothes.

Wife and son are well versed in use and safety (better than 99% of the people I see at ranges or such) of all firearms. All ā€œnon-toolā€ type firearms are in a safe in my workroom while ā€œtoolsā€ are staged in private places. Ammo not loaded in a firearm or staged mag also is stored in a cabinet in the workroom. My EDC goes on the dressing valet at night in its IWB. Having no young children and everyone in the house being firearms trained allows that ability ... but on the rare occasion when some people do visit (Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc) I do secure everything for that period but my EDC still does its same dressing valet routine ... habit and routine keep me from having to guess anymore than Iā€™d had to if needed to. Keep it simple and same to hopefully keep Murphy from coming into play.

I don't carry guns, that's dangerous!
It is for some people.

But then again itā€™s dangerous to live in the city but folks do it all the time.

Loaded guns all over the house and in the shower. Crazy I tell, ya, crazy. :eek:o_O

My shower gun is a Glock, no corrosion problems here.

My holstered shield 40 gets clipped to my boxers. It's a little uncomfortable trying to sleep like that at first, but you get used to it.
Try briefs for more support (for the gun, of course). ;)

What!?! Dont you wear a proper gun belt to bed?

I prefer to wear boxers to bed. It is more comfortable for my, er, uh... 'other gun'.

I have 2 small kids so I like to keep things secured. I have a quick access safe upstairs and one down stairs. the downstairs safe is where I drop my keys and wallet and such and my EDC goes in there when take it off. the upstairs safe is on my nightstand it has a full size gun with a light on it. so when I'm in the house I have quick access to a pistol on each floor and my kids dont. long guns and other stuff are in the full safe in the bedroom closet.

"Secure" it?

My EDC is secured all the time. It stays in my holster on my belt whenever I'm out and about.

It stays in my holster on my jeans in the bathroom whenever I take a shower

It stays in my holster on my jeans next to the bed away night.

Unless I'm swapping my current EDC out for something else, it's ALWAYS in my holster near by.

Is not going to do me any good otherwise, if I need it.

I do keep my guns locked up since I have a kid, but I have taught my son what guns can do and how to handle them safely. He knows not to mess with one without me and to tell an adult if he finds one. I have tested him leaving an unloaded one around intentionally. He doesnā€™t mess with them or talk to friends about them. Gun are just not a big deal with him because I nipped the curiosity factor out at a young age.

I have a medium-sized fireproof safe where MOST of my guns are kept. I keep a home defense gun in a table next to my bed, and when I leave the house unattended, it's put in a small gun safe bolted to a shelf in the bedroom closet. I also have a second handgun in a small (easy-to-open) gun safe in our den. When I carry, which isn't every day, I go to the gun safe and pull out the gun I'll be carrying, which varies. When I get home, it goes back into the safe.

The small safes are not likely to keep a determined burglar from trying to get either of those two guns, but it does keep the guns safe from kids or folks who just don't know what's in them. If the burglar comes with pry-bars and tools, he or she can get into the small safes, but it will be more trouble than they expect. Even big fireproof safes can probably be opened with the proper tools, but we've got a home security system that should give any intruders less time than they'd like, and there are more lucrative things to steal, like big TVs.

Around here, a mid-sized city in the Triad, most home break-ins seem to happen when the family is away or during the dark of night - and the bedside table gun (a .45 with a light/LASER combo) gives me some peace of mind.

I have Vaultek V20 nightstand ā€œsafeā€ that my HD and EDC live in. I usually only have 1 out at a time but rarely are both locked away.

Since I have no kids to worry about yet, my EDC is usually sitting on top of the Vaultek if itā€™s not on me.

Getting home and locking up your guns seems silly to me. Too many examples of home invasions or other instances where a gun under lock and key is too far away to be useful. When my wife questioned the need, I showed her the below video and she conceded before finishing the video (only had to do this once).

I just keep my primary carry pistol in the pocket of my pants. The pants wind up crumpled on the floor in a corner of the bedroom at night. The pistol is still in the pants when I put them back on in the morning or gets transferred to another set of pants at that time.

EDC is removed and put in the same spot every night. If I'm wearing pants, I'm carrying.

Otherwise there are 3 pistols and 1 AR in out if sight / easy to reach locations.

My range bag changes all the time but defense firearms stay the same. Consistency is king. Reliable firearms in reliable locations.

I am the weakspot in in my defense plan. Mainly because im not willing to replace myself. Though I do try to regularly improve myself.

There is a safe for extras, rifles and range guns down stairs. But defense weapons seldom see it. There are almost never children in my home. If/when there are, appropriate changes are made.

When I get up in the morning my gun goes in holster. When I go to bed it goes on nightstand. When I get up the next day repeat process. Routine never changes except when I visit Durham or the other side of Garnet street in Henderson. Then I add a pocket gun and I usually have an AR pistol in the truck. Not taking chances with those holes.

Have a gun in just about every room. All of them have a purpose. Carry gun goes on top of the fridge when I get home. Thatā€™s the only bacon Iā€™m going to give away. I have never heard somebody having too many guns lol.

Nobody inside "The Fortress" but me, RS and Mr. Bullitt. All visitors here are always armed. Only two small people in and when they are stuff is secured. When RS took the Utah Class the instructor asked...Where do you keep your guns in your home?. When he came to her she said..There is No room in our home that I have to Leave to get a gun...He replied..Yes Mam, I know who you are.
We recently committed and stored all guns but 6 Glocks in the house, two in cars, 2 ARs in the house, and 3 Minis, one at each entrance. The Battery Oaks is far from impenetrable, but also not to be considered a soft target. Shooting ports for a crossfire of all entrances and much electronic alerts.
The single weak point to our home is not a thought out plan, alerts, fences, firearms, and quick access to them, but an old man prone to impromptu napping.

This is the beginnings of an action/fantasy adventure movie script! You just need some dragons, zombies, or giant murderous worms.
