Does Anybody Here Remember Vera Lynn?

Sadly, most of her generation are gone. She was the same age as my grandmother that I just lost a few months ago. I discovered her solely through the Floyd song off “The Wall” album many years ago. I’m one of those guys that likes to know the rest of the story. Goodbye Dame Vera, I’ll be looking forward to meeting you some sunny day .CE41E0CA-9F2E-41ED-B823-1904A8BDFB17.jpeg

I discovered her solely through the Floyd song off “The Wall” album many years ago.

My grandfather and I were watching the movie (on VHS probably 1984ish), and that song came on. He was a WWII vet.

He said, "Hell yeah, I remember Vera Lynn. She could eat cob corn through a chain link fence. But she had legs, and man could she sing." Then he poured a little more Wild Turkey in his glass, and took a sip, and was pretty much quiet through the rest of the movie.

We’ll meet again is a very commonly used song, but I admit I didn’t know it’s WWII origins.
