Does anyone have experience with this kind of bike?

Not the name brand but just the style of bike? My wife wants one for Christmas and I have no clue if there is really anything to look for besides three wheels.

We used to have them at the plant for getting tools from one side to the other. Ours were single gear steel frames with big baskets. They were fine for what we used them for. I would say that if her goal is exercise/fun then a light single gear would be fine. If she is planning to do grocery runs with it then a multiple gear model (for hills) that is purpose built with a basket (weight support) would be better than adding on a cheap one later. If this is basically replacing a car for commuting/shopping, then electric assist would be worth it if it was me. 25 pounds of groceries is really easy to hit and is enough extra weight to make biking too much of a chore.

This would simply be for bumming around the neighborhood. She's not good on two wheels.

My mom had one. They are fun to ride around the yard, but if she goes all Mario Andretti while on some uneven ground, she's liable to turn over :D

We got one for my mom when she was in her early 70's It was not as useful as we had hoped. If a person has issues preventing them from riding a bicycle there's a good chance those same issues will be a problem with the trike. We went to a golf cart shortly after and the trike never got used again.

My wife is just uncoordinated. But she and my daughter want bikes for Christmas.

It will require exercise, only having one gear, and the extra friction of the extra wheel...

I would say you definitely want gears. My sister (only has one useable arm) had a single speed and it was ok but you really had to pedal hard on any uneven surface. I mastered the two wheel turn on that thing.

Mom lived in a flat area and she did enjoy it for the short time she used it. You get what you pay for. I think ours was ~$150 and quality was poor. Out of the box spokes were loose, one tire would not hold air.

Outside of some strange physical problem almost anyone can learn to ride a bike. I'd have a heart to heart with her and try to get her on 2 wheels. More options with a lot less weight to move around. Plus if her and your daughter will ride together it would be good to have bikes with similar capabilities. And it may be considered child abuse to get your kid a trike with a basket. :p

They'll never look back. She can get her exercise by walking.

Or get her one of these and have her make some money while she's out there... :D

Very cool. Heated seats and a built in cooler would be nice. And a good stereo system. Heck, by the time I got done building my dream golf cart I could probably buy a Jeep.

The biggest problem right now is that I'm not sure where I would put it. I like my car in the Garage and if it's got a golf cart in it I get put out. Not enough room to put one in my back yard.
My ideal cart would be gas with a radio.

She wants a fancy golf cart

Did you know that in SC, there are limitations on using golf carts on public streets, but there are no enforcement guidelines. So, you pretty much do as you please. ;)

I could just be an uncoordinated doofus, but I had a hard time riding one. My parents have one at their beach house my brother uses to transport fishing stuff. They don’t steer like regular bikes so they take a lot of getting used to. You don’t “lean” to turn em.

Thanks man that's very helpful. My wife is the most uncoordinated person I know.

So, you don't let her shave you with a straight razor?

Lol, if my wife was a video game character she would be 100% southern class, bulldog stubborn and maybe an 18 out of 100 for the ability to walk and chew gum at the same time.
