To preface, I haven’t used stick powders yet, just ball (2000MR and CFE223) and I can’t get a consistent drop to save my life.

I cleaned it when I got it but it almost seems like the ball powder is clinging to the inside of the chamber that fills up with the powder, but not the adjustable plunger itself. I’ve tried the small and large drionthebnk

I’ve done my best to keep my movements consistent to eliminate *me* from the discrepancy.

I got this to help save time but so far it’s been exactly the opposite.

Any help would be appreciated

I have a couple of these and haven't had that issue. If powder is clinging you maybe cleaned it too good. It needs to be coated with graphite for everything to flow freely.

Static is another possible culprit

And.. are you using a baffle?

I use one. Drops Ball super consistent, does pretty good with stick. No baffle, just try to keep the hopper pretty full, but have run it out with little/no noticeable change.

You cleaned and dried, wipe down with a static laundry sheet, run a full hopper of powder thru, maybe wipe down again, see what happens.

Have read some people store them with a static sheet inside, some rubber band it to the outside, some folks even ground them. Not sure it needs all that.

First, what is considered a consistent powder drop? My way of running the uniflow is to use the handle to tap against the stops of the upper and lower motion. Two slight taps down and two taps up works for me. If you have resistence continue the motion but dump the powder back into the hopper. A side note is when you try stick powders the contraption will bind almost everytime unless you learn to tap/settle the powder before going through the dump cycle. Another though is the placement of the handle, mine is oriented to dump the powder when the handle is down, works for me, good luck.

I do run a baffle. I either cleaned it too good or maybe not enough

This is where it was sticking...around the walls of the cylinder where the powder charge accumulate

I’ll reclean it like this and give it another go

I was given the “tap” advice like you described so I may just need more practice getting the feel for it

Just like learning the boundaries of hand priming, it just takes practice I reckon

Thanks for the reply

Oh yeah operation, I don't double tap, but I do run the handle briskly with a distinct tap at the end of every motion. Also give the hopper a few taps before starting as it settles in quicker, seems to be more an issue with my measure that has a baffle.

The static stuff was for clinging in the hopper.

I misread, clinging in the cylinder really seems like oil/residue of some sort. Maybe wipe with acetone or alcohol.

I use one. The inside of the hopper on mine is coated with stuck powder that you can't even remove with a small wire brush.

It drops ball and flake powders just fine, but with stick powders its slightly less consistent and I often get a "crunch" feeling when running the lever, I assume that some of the stick powder is getting crushed as it cycles.

I have had powder get jammed behind the long measurement screw before. Happened a few years ago, and after a cleaning, it hasn't happened again.

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with other powder measures, so I can't compare it to anything else, but on the whole, I'm satisfied with it.
