My wife used too go with me....until we had our daughter. Now that things have settled back down I'd really like to get her back in the woods. Thing is she has never shot an animal. She'll go shooting and is supportive of my hunting, cooks/eats venison and other wild game but claims she couldn't shoot a deer (had no problems spotting them for me to shoot though!). Anyone else have to bribe/persuade your better half to joining the fun? I'm half tempted to present her with a dolled up .270 Rem 700 so she's "invested".......it's either that or hypnotherapy ;)

My wife loves venison, bird, everything I hunt... but she never goes hunting. Now, my daughter... loves to hunt and is my hunting buddy. Just this last weekend, she got her first Coyote! (no deer... but kill these anytime you get a chance)

My wife has tried to go a few times. I didn't try to push her to go. First time she went deer hunting with me was bitter cold (I warned her) and the second time she was just bored. Turkey hunting she hated dealing with the bugs. That was the end of trying to go hunting with me. Now it's just my hobby. I have plans to go out West to elk hunt and antelope hunt. If antelope hunting turns out to be what I hear that it is, she might be on board to accompany me for that.

My wife killed a deer with her stepdad when she was in her early teens. She didn't really enjoy the experience.
She's only been with me once and that was enough for both of us. Lol...... she complained the whole time. It's just not her thing.

My three year old is begging to go. It’s the cutest thing watching her crouch down and practice her “quiet” stalking!

That might work out well for her, most of the antelope hunting I’ve seen is guys driving around in trucks until they spot one that suits them. Elk hunting however. That’s gonna put some miles on her boots.

Edit: totally jealous btw. If she backs out on the Elk hunt I just happen to know a fella who’d love to drop one. ;)

My wife used to go with me, but would not hunt. She usually sees a nice buck when we go. And I don't. And we sat side by side. Craziest thing. It's happened 3 times.

My oldest daughter hunted with me for a couple years. Took a shot on a doe with her bow last year. Not looking like she is going this year though. Not really looking like I am either for a while.

My wife loves to squirrel hunt. She has several places she goes on her own. Kills her limit and comes home. Likes to dove hunt, deadly with a shotgun.
Has been with me deer hunting lots of times, but has yet to kill one.

Yeah she's definitely not going elk hunting. Elk and antelope are going to be two different years. I'm not rich enough to do both in one year.

Girlfriend used to hunt with me when the kids were younger. Believe it was just for some "me" time, since that was before cell phones, so when she was on the stand, nobody was yelling "Mom!" She killed several deer and had no problem with it. She hated duck hunting, too early, too cold. Once the kids started hunting, she could stay at the house for her quiet time. I raised both her kids to hunt. The daughter has taken several does. Her son was one of the best hunting buddies I ever had, was always up and ready to go in turkey, duck/goose and deer. Has killed untold amount of ducks and geese, several nice gobblers, bunches of deer and one nice buck. But now in the Army, so back on my own. They were all interested in the butchering process and eat the meat, so they never had a problem pulling the trigger. Daughter always wanted to be a nurse (what she is now) so even when young, she wanted me to point out the organs etc.

Is she the sit and wait type or the walk through the woods and tree them type? I went with my buddy that was the tree them hunter and it was the coolest thing I've ever seen. He would walk along and spot one at 50 yards run and kick the tree then walk around and shoot it.

Mine wasn’t interested in it really the first year we were together. The second year we were together we bought her a bow and she learned to shoot it pretty well. She kept on hitting her arm with the string and had a bruise for a month but persevered and learned the correct way to do it. Finally this past season she bagged her first doe, now if she would help clean them I would have it made.

She is the slip through the trees and find them type. I tend to sit and watch for them.

Arm slap is a grip or DL issue. Grip too far in or DL too long. Women tend to be able to hyperextend the arm too, which makes grip even more important.

Well my wife needed to get out of the house Saturday so she came with me to the game lands hunting. Not really cold, no tree stand, no bugs - perfect for her. On top of that, she got to be there as I shot my first buck. I think that started turning some wheels because Sunday night she asks "so what do I have to do to get my hunting license?" That was a sentence I never imagined would come out of her mouth. She isn't 100% decided on pursuing this, but hunter safety is free and I've been wanting to purchase a .243 anyway as a back up rifle, so there's not much to lose. Worst case, I end up with a second rifle and things continue as they were.

This year she's out more than me. I have a lame schedule for getting in the stand. Waiting on getting drug out of bed or a call at work when she gets something.

Well I went ahead with a 7mm-08...still gotta get some glass for it and hope I can get it together and surprise her before the season’s out. Worst case scenario is there’s another long gun in the safe collecting dust.
