Tried to call to see if they had an exhaust fan that I'm looking at in stock. Could only find an 800 number that put me on hold.
Had a number for the local store in my rolodex, it went to the same automated system as the 800 number.
Enabled "chat" on their website and it actually told me that I was 15th in line for chat!
I just wanted to know if an item was in stock at my local store!!!!!

That is the world we are in. No one to answer a phone? Lowes is even worse, website says aisle 7, bay 12. Go in store, oh we moved that item a few weeks ago! Very little customer service in today's world.
Ha!...we ordered a washer and dryer from Lowes when we were building the SC house. Items were showing in-stock, order went through, got a "ready for pick-up" notice, went to
the store....they didn't have them in stock! I gotta try to get used to these places pulling all the strings to piss me off!
Wife hates it when we get done that way....I ALWAYS make a scene :)

Doesn’t the website show you? I opened my app and just clicked through to a random item. Shows available for pickup today.

BTW…post up the item number if you can, and what price it’s showing for you. Or send me a PM with that info.

And when you do get someone to actually speak to on the phone how many times are they even capable of helping?

I had several possible choices, just wanted to know if any of them were on hand. It's louvered exhaust fans for my barn build. Wanted to get my hands on one, wire it up, and see if it's what I want before I buy five of them.

Grainger is a turd out of Michigan that knows nothing about products at any level. They put all the customer service on the back of the buyer. You find the Grainger part number in that massive red book or it’s not happening. Whatever is a retail price at others just add 30% more. The store in Hickory was horrible. Workers not friendly or knowledgable. 4 years and they were gone.

Same deal, just ln ast wel at Lowes.
In person staff was worse.
I ended up driving to Conway, SC store
to buy 10 cans of Rust Reformer.
Clt-Conway-MB Gunshow-Supply trip.

Post (or PM) me an item number or two, along with the price you see. I’m just curious what my pricing is compared to normal price. Sometimes I get a deal, sometimes not.

I've ordered from McMaster Carr. I had to put them on hold before I was finished to answer the door. It was the UPS guy.. with my McMaster Carr order..
A first with them today....went online to order some 1/2" aluminum couplings for a job....they were out of stock. Never seen them out of stock of anything that I need.
They did have 1/2" aluminum high pressure couplings though (4x the cost of low pressure)....pass it on to the customer.

Yeah, you cant hold them to the fire with low/no stock. Have you seen the ships backed up at the ports ?
Lot's of stuff just not getting thru.

What I hope is my best bet is item # 484X42 UNSPSC# 40101502.....1/4hp 20" louvered exhaust fan $306 and change. For whatever reason the 18" unit is about $40 higher.

Not in stock here, but about $50 cheaper…which makes a decent chunk when buying 5 of them.

Yes but shipping was 10 bucks. That's the right one.

See if NB Hamby will sell them to you. Greensboro and Charlotte.

... or English is their first language?

I’ve mostly dealt with the Raleigh store. The guys there are knowledgeable, helpful, and have worked there for decades.
It sucks that they went to all the phone numbers going to one central place.

went to fastenal they said I now have to have a online account and order from it I can just go to the store get what I want and then pay

Was that supposed to be “can’t just go to the store”?

Grainger and Graybar are 800# gorillas in the electro industrial world. I dont really understand why.

Check northern tool prices on them as well seems like. Some were in a sale flyer I got a while back or you can atleast maybe use one of the coupons they send. I doubt they stock in store though so not sure of your time frame.
