2 shots per single pull of trigger -- doesn't that violate ATF ruling on "machine guns"?

Not according to the article.but this comes from the manufacturers statement not the ATF.
369 MSRP which doesn't seem that bad of a price.
It's fugly, eats up a limited ammo supply twice.as fast, but some people will buy bt for the novelty alone.

Yeah, video was pretty hype-ey. Curious what the Bat Fuggers will say / did say about it.

My 1st reaction was same as @HMP 's. But I see how it might appeal to a novice or recently-scared newbie. Which is who it's clearly aimed (ha) at.

"THE ALL-NEW S333 THUNDERSTRUCK IS AN INTRIGUING SELF-DEFENSE OPTION."

No, it isn't... not intriguing at all, actually.

You’re only of that opinion because you finally own a Smith 39-2. :D

Yeah, it's like when my son got Batman underwear, as a reward for going potty... he turned his nose up at whitey tighties.

Just.... Why? 2 WMR is probably roughly a 38 in terms of terminal ballistics, but you only have 4 "shots" compared to 5 or 6 in a typical revolver. The only possible advantage I see is with 2 rounds on target even though they are smaller you have a higher probability of hitting a vital.

Haven't watched the video cause I'm at work, but I'd like to know what they tout as advantages of this design.

At least with 2 rimfire cartridges per trigger pull maybe one will go off.

    Actually, it already has. :)

Ian and his buddy looked it over, knowing everyone expected him to knock it, and his first impressions are actually quite positive. This gun wasn't made for the people on this forum. It wasn't made for us gun enthusiasts. It was made for our grandmothers. Our friends. Our non-gun-enthused weaker acquaintances who aren't really interested in guns and can't really control most guns, but acknowledge that there are times when you just need *a* gun. Something to shoot for self-defense. And this gun actually fills that role, according to them. It has a few good things going for it. Lower recoil, a "Feels better" trigger system for people not used to shooting a normal gun or that need more than just their index finger to cycle a DAO, and two shots instead of one mean that, in the event of a misfire, the other round *probably* isn't going to misfire as well. It's also pretty cheap, has reasonably good sights, and the trigger safety seems pretty nicely squared away in a pocket.

Do I want one? No. But would I try one out and get one for my arthritic grandmother who's never shot a gun before? Quite possibly. This wasn't made for shooters. This was made for their loved ones.

for my next prediction.... the DOW at 25000! Crazy, but trust me on this one.

that is one thing about the 'gun community' in general, if something doesn't fit with ones own individual beliefs it's immediately stupid junk that shouldn't exist. I think we should applaud people trying to do different stuff, even if it's weird. I would rather see 10 ideas like this come to market than yet another round of finger grooves / no finger grooves / funny textures / whatever that get everyone so excited when a big name company declares them the next generation of perfection.

    Agree 100%.

As clunky and foolish as their results may look, I also applaud those who design "work around" stocks and configurations that meet the letter and f*** the spirit of infringement laws in MA, NJ, NY, DC, CA, and elsewhere.

A weird gun that gets Grandma or Suzy Facebuch to the range does more to promote and support our 2A freedom than a phalanx of camo-clad enthusiasts rallying 'round a statue.*

It's still stupid and clunky. :p
Why would you make a defensive gun in a less reliable caliber (rimfire) and have to double everything to make up for the poor reliability? 22 magnum has horrible blast and flash out of even a 5" barrel (ask anyone with a PMR-30), I can't imagine 2 of them out of a 2" or whatever length barrel this is. IMO it would be extremely distracting trying to rapid fire with any accuracy for someone with little experience. How is this any better than a low recoil centerfire round out of a revolver?

IMHO grandmothers are much less likely to carry than just need a home defense gun, and in that role the larger gun the better, not for more power but for accuracy and control. A large long barreled pistol in 38 or 380/9mm would be similar in recoil to this lightweight thing and much easier to hit with, but my recommendation would be a simple inexpensive pistol caliber carbine. Hi Points for everyone! :D

As written it's "per finger action" or some such, that's how binary triggers are legal. Still doesn't explain how this is legal though.

I got yer "finger action!" Heheh.

Come to think of it, it's a two-finger trigger, so...
