DR650 versus KLR rabbit hole - an academic exercise

That said, I do not know what’s next. My old hips and knees are really spoiled by sitting way up high on the police seat. Which I have taken off and put back on the bike three times in about two months. I’ve got taller handle bars coming in later this week to make my neck and shoulders happier riding that tall seat.

I've had several KLR's, loved them for dirt roads and pavement, but they suck for anything remotely serious off road.

Had a KLX 250S that was an absolute blast off road and decent on the pavement, wish I still had it!

I'd LOVE to have a DRZ400S, or even an SM with off road tires. I think the DRZ would be the perfect bike. I think they are still carb'd....which I
would prefer personally, just cause "I" could fix it and tune it. The new KLR's and the new KLX300S are fuel injected.

With that said, I think the KLR would be a better fit for you (and I hate them, I had three, sold them all within a couple of months).
