I know dry fire training has benefits and there are the old faithful snap caps to help with that. Who uses other dry fire training aids and how do you like them?

I just got my first Glock-type pistol (a 80% GST-9) and I was thinking about the Dryfiremag. It's not cheap, at $105. But it lets you fire multiple times without racking the slide.

Then there's these TRT Tap Rack dummies that @BigWaylon just bought. You can cycle the gun, but they don't eject so you don't have to chase down that snap cap that rolled under the fridge.

And, of course, the venerable snap caps. I like these metal cased snap caps for function testing.

I use a G3C which has restrike, a G-Sight 9mm cartridge (nicer than the generic others), and LaserHit app on an old Android phone

If you're around the RTP area, a lightly used G3C is for auction now https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1013261782
I have a PT-145 that has restrike. I can always dry fire practice with it, but I want to practice with my new not-a-Glock, too.

Here's one I would suggest...

Find someone selling an old, cheap IIIa set of soft armor and use the double layer behind your DF target...

No matter how careful we are, we are but human and the investment vs the potential harm weighs strongly in favor. I think I got one for 50 bucks off a retired security guard.

and don't sweat the snap caps, the old myth about firing pin damage on centerfires is exactly that. On rimfires, you *could* peen the chamber, but I have never heard of anyone wrecking a firearm that way...
