So my dad has a gen 1 MP 9 with the magazine disconnect and he wants to practice dry firing but he wants a "dead" mag to use so he will never mess up and use a live mag by accident. Does anyone make a dead/blue mag? I'm open to any ideas to help keep him safe.

Water tight wrap the mag in painters tape and pour an inch or so of epoxy in it with the baseplate off and it held upside down. That'll give you a durable permanent plug making it impossible to load the mag.

I'm sure you can find a crappy 10rd ban state mag to mutilate.

The only thing I hate worse than a thumb safety on a polymer pistol, is a mag disconnect safety.

Take that thing off.

I got some of these at a class once:

Amazon product ASIN B07CNBDHSB
I suppose he might be able to epoxy one in place, then paint/mark the mag or baseplate so it was obvious.

EDIT: Links often don't show up for me, so here's a screenshot:

This is what I need! I just found a cheap ETS clear poly mag for $15 so these and the clear mag will be perfect!!!!!
