The article must follow a template that news agencies use : “He was a good boy”; “Don’t know why?”.

It’s the Mother. It’s the lack of a father. It’s the lack of accountability.

Just remember Durham does not have a gang problem … according to Durham’s elected leaders.

I am not saying the kid was or wasn’t in a gang but Mcdougald Terrace has several I guess “youth groups” with ties to crime (weapons, drugs, theft, etc) and there is likely a connection to them on the shooter’s side at least and possibly on the deceased. Mcdougald is so bad LEO’s do not go in without a second unit … and preferably a third. Sad thing a good portion of the people living in Mcdougald are actually decent people who financially are stuck there and have to live with the scum … live in fear and rarely “see” anything. It ain’t getting any better.

The common thread is a DA who doesn’t charge certain classes of criminals.

And they voted down the ShotSpotter technology.
It was never publicly acknowledged but quite a few ShotSpot sensors were vandalized in Durham. One even supposedly had been shot within days of its first installation. Funny thing is all have cameras mounted near them … vandalism to both has to be more common than reported.

My neighbor had her car stolen at gun point by 4 armed teens last weekend. When the DPD cops were taking her report they told her they likely won't find em. And if they did, the DA wouldn't charge them with anything serious. Wonder if the kid in the article was one of the thieves...

That sucks. Even if armed, four armed against one is some bad odds.
In the 80’ or 90’s I remembered seeing a car jacking gizmo you could install in your car. It had an old school high beam switch on the floor, when depressed the car would run for a mile or two, then the fuel was shut off and the car shuddered to a stop.

Yes but you are a pointing out a fact that must not be discussed.

We need more programs and more money dumped into those programs to help with this gun violence problem. Maybe a few bans and some restrictive laws as well will help.
