My wife dropped her old Nook e-reader and shattered the screen last week. She is constantly dropping her phone and Nook but this is the first time she actually broke one of them. She couldn't make up her mind between a Nook and a Kindle and the reviews on current Nooks and Kindles didn't give me any confidence in the product, plus they really don't seem to keep them in stock. Plus, B&N drops support for the Nook versions after some years and they not longer can access the Nook system so that sucks. Her only requirements were: 1. it fits in her giant purse; 2. she can access the Libby E-library app and the Nook app; and 3. it works. Her phone is too small for her to read books on.

I bought her a cheap Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 lite at Best Buy this morning, loaded the two apps on it along with her Gmail account and she is in business. I think the days of dedicated E-readers is over. She is now happy and the household is now happy.

My wifes e reader nooks have taken a dump. No support. Have to buy a new nook for new stuff. No dice ever again.

Samsung tablet works for her and my daughter.

I used to use a Kindle, but switched over to an iPad with the Kindle app. Much nicer - larger screen, and only one device to carry (and it’s multi-functional).

I have an old Kindle, one of the old Kindle Fires. I just looked up the account, I've had it since 2012. I use it when I actually want to read something. Still working good.

That’s what I use too. However I do like the cholesteric LCD display on the kindle my mother reads from. It’s easier on the eyes.
