DEAD IN THE WATER

Flashpoint

Just like old times.

Link? Or just cause you say so?

I have never said they were going to make it, never even said I thought their chances were better than 50/50. What I have said is that I don't know the future and no one else here does either.

Its true they are in financial trouble but they have been for some time. I support this company not because they have $100 of my money but for what their success would mean to our country, and I find it puzzling why so many seem to salivate at the prospect of their failure.

I dont salivate at their possible failure, but some people really had the wool pulled over their eyes thinking this was worth ANY money invested in.
They raised MILLIONS of dollars and never sold ONE vehicle, just pushed back production time and time and time again, while taking investor money constantly.

I'd like to see something like this WORK.
Something to give an inexpensive, efficient option for folks looking for a NEW vehicle.
But no, we're still looking at 14k+ for a small car.

I would imagine that more startups fail than not. It's a shame this one didn't take off.

It goes back to my premise that most new technologies only succeed because there are those with deep pockets driving them. And yes, most times it's the Government.

Just your opinion or do you have some facts?

That directed towards me?

If so, please, show me where ONE car was sold to a customer.
While you do that I'll find where they pulled in tons of money.
I cant, right now, back up the claims of constantly pushing back production dates, but look at CSC on that thread and you should be able to find that

Whoa, hang on a min. They haven't failed. hp468 's post was in jest, to revive an ongoing discussion about Elio, and to troll our resident $100 Elio t-shirt owner, Flashpoint .

Well, at least we have a somewhat more objective way of measuring ELIO's prospects: http://finance.yahoo.com/quote/ELIO?p=ELIO
^ That is a link to their stock price. You'll know they're dead when that falls to, or close to, zero.

The shares took a hit around the election, probably because Trump is viewed as being more hawkish on government subsidizing green(er) energy than Clinton. But Elio is still very much alive.

Like a large mouth to a buzz bait

Drypowder knows whats up, I'm just throwing rocks at Flashpoints window lol.

I haven't looked into anything Elio in a year or better and I honestly hope they succeed.

Buuuuuuuuuuuttt........ This can be the official Elio thread now.

It appears that all is still on schedule. Late 2017 production. They have the first cars sold to a co that will test them. And they have Thousands already sold with the 1000.00 all in option. I dont think anyone expected them to meet their first optimistic production dates.

I doubt that it is going to help their sales (if they get that far) that drivers of them in NC will be required to obtain a motorcycle endorsement. At least the Republican State Legislature voted that drivers of such contraptions no longer have to wear helmets.

Damn I thought there was actual news of them going under. The inlaws always talk about how they are on the list and can't wait for theirs. Wanted a conversation starter for Christmas.

Interesting that theyre still around/didnt go under.
I would LOVE to see something actually come of this, but Im so dang skeptical based on previous history.

Because of my current situation, this would be awesome for me, that plus a beat truck/small suv and I'd be happy.
But I really dont see this going anywhere, just keep backing up production dates etc

And the fact that Ive not seen where theyve been tested/DOT approved yet is pretty bad, please, show me where it has happened if it has.
Talking with Buell people, folks involved in the creation of the company/new product, that is one of the hardest parts...but still only a small portion of what it takes to get a company going.

Think of MOTUS - awesome engine (took a V8 and cut it in half pretty much), looks great, good suspension etc...but its a project thats been 'in progress' for a few years now minus the selling of motors to people for custom builds.

Sounds like pricing will be in the $12k range, so well above Elio's (fantasy) pricing.

I really like the idra but I didnt have money to throw at vaporware. Sounds like that was a good thing.

Nothing says it's almost Friday like the revival of an Elio thread!

Forty years ago, back in the dark ages, they told us in business school the statistic was only 1 in 10 new businesses ultimately succeed.

Catch me up. What were they going to do for our country? I'm lost. I'll go do some google fu now.

Nothing positive.

Forgot about this company.
People are really still investing in this pipedream which has suckered so many so far? Wow.

RIP Bernie Madoff, all hail the new Ponzi king!

Man....whats a nice used Prius running nowadays? I mean the first generation that can be hacked to be a plugin hybrid?

So it is/was a motorcyle/car thing that has no room. Yeah, not gonna work.
Meant to be a city/commuter car. And well under $10K. But they are also fighting big auto that is lobbying against state law changes to recognize it as a car rather than a motorcycle. As a motorcycle, insurance is way higher. Plus drivers need an MC endorsement to operate.
It is an interesting concept.
