Tonight on HBO, at 8pm, they'll start airing the movie Elvis.

Anyone seen it yet? This is the movie with Tom Hanks as his manager (or something like that, I really dont know a ton about the guy)
Wife wants to watch it, Im looking forward to it. At worst Im out 2 hours. At best, Im entertained.

Wife and daughter saw it in a theatre and raved about it.

I watched an interview with the guy playing Elvis. He basically learned three different Elvis personas. Best I remember, it was (1) the before any fame Elvis, (2) the just blew up huge Elvis, and (3) the later in his career Elvis. Three different accents, walks, mannerisms, etc. He did all the singing as well IIRC.

I’m sure we’ll check it out soon on HBOMax.

Picture is from Graceland. In case it's too fuzzy for you to read it says-

"Before anyone did anything, Elvis did everything".

Was alright
I was a bit confused at some of the hip hop being put in in the back ground of the 1950s scenes
Some of the stuff in the movie, things that were public/on stage, did NOT happen, which sort of 'taints' the movie for me

It wasnt bad, but I dont expect to watch it again, I wasnt floored by anything and was fairly emotionless throughout it.
I did like they focus on how controversial he was at the beginning of his career...you know, cause the hip shaking.

And, spoiler alert, you never see him eat his favorite sandwich.

I wanted to like it. I really did.

But I found it to me an absolute disaster of a movie.

It was disjointed and confusing. It had horrible music choices for Segway’s. It just wasn’t good. At all imo.

It was well acted is about the only good thing I can say.

I enjoyed it but agree with everything else said. It was disjointed and confusing. But I enjoyed the music and I do feel like the guy playing Elvis did a great job.

my wife loved it (big Elvis fan) but I could barely get through it; easily the worst movie I've seen in a long time. I do think the Elvis actor did a nice job though.

Im not an Elvis fan, so watchingnit I learned a bunch, which after fact checking the film, seemed to be pretty honest to what actually happened.
What I didn't like was the style it was shot it. Specifically the first half, there was a bunch of weird transitions from scene to scene and I said to myself "this reminds me of Moulin Rouge", which I also didnt like for the same reason.
Turns out its the same director for both films.
I don't regret watching it, but I will probably never watch it again.

Yeah, I didnt understand all the modern-ish hip hop in this movie. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt great and, as stated, I was quite emotionless most of the time.
That's not good, someone should feel SOMETHING when watching a movie. Laugh, feel sad, SOMETHING.
About the most I felt was jealousy - why cant young women throw their panties at ME? (dont tell my wife I said that lol - I actually said that during the move and got 'the look')

I thought it was so so. The gf slept thru part of it lol.
