Enterprise, National and Alamo car rentals have taken a stand and decided that they don't want your business anymore. Act accordingly.

No, they do still want our business, just not giving a discount for NRA members, big deal.

Right, I'm sure their decision isn't directed at gun owners in general.

It’s likely. However imo it’s also likely that this has nothing to do with anything other than there not being enough NRA members renting cars to warrant a discount.

Until I see evidence that this is then distancing themselves from gun owners I don’t want to jump to that conclusion.

I've been pissed off at Enterprise for years so nothing new for me.....

This is more accurate...

I have certain hotels I don't stay at because of their policy, certain stores I don't shop at, certain movies I don't watch because of the leading actor(ess). I have a choice on where I spend my $.

Enterprise is now on that list.

Not like there aren't a bunch of other companies to rent a car from.

Fair enough. Hard not to be on the offense in these times, but still, bad timing on their part if they didn't want it to look like political theater.

Man, y'all are hard on Bailey Boat; I found him to be really nice and easy to talk to, not to mention going far out of his way to help me out.

My yearly NRA membership was covered with the money I saved with the NRA Hertz discount.
I'm a Life Member since 2008.

So which car rentals are left? Hertz? If they're the last one will they be dumb enough to lose the business?

Avis?

Hertz joined the list, just now.

The founders of Chick-Fil-A--not the board members nor management--made a personal statement against some things that they didn't believe were right. As usual, the Champions Of Tolerance went 100% intolerant and boycotted CFA. Wouldn't even let them open a store in San Francisco.

And while it was a personal decision, it was also amazing for business. The one near my house needs cops directing traffic at lunch, and I went for a milk shake at 9:00 the other night and the drive through was around the building. Contrast that with Target, who went all out for men in the ladies' rooms, and their business and stock price have tanked as they deal with the lawsuits from women band little girls getting assaulted.

I rent from Hertz about twice a month. I guess that's over. Who's left? Is Avis still happy taking NRA members' money?

I do not think I have ever used a NRA discount or member benefit of any kind. No big deal to me. This crap makes me want to donate even more now.

Hell, a lot of gun owners have ended their relationship with NRA too, lets ban/boycott them!

Me neither. I didn't even think about it until these companies singled out NRA members and declared war on us.

So, what rental car companies are left? I rent about once a month and need to find one that doesn't openly hate gun owners.

Ok, so two questions (and this isnt directed at Covfefe, just using his post because it had a pretty comprehensive list)

This is the list I have found so far:
  • Alamo Rent a Car
  • Avis
  • Enterprise Rent-a-Car
  • Hertz
  • National Car Rental
  • Zipcar

1st - who else is left in that business?

2nd - if all of these are anti-NRA, what will you do if you need to rent?
What if youre stuck somewhere and needing of a rental, just not do it?

Not sure. For those that are not on this list, I'm not sure if they are pro-NRA or that they have never offered a discount and they're not necessarily any better. I rent fairly often, but I also fly more and all of my points are tied up with Delta and Hertz.

These are a few that I haven't seen listed that I'd like to read about to see if they've ever taken a stance on gun rights. Sometimes they'll match your status if you are switching over to them.
  • Ace
  • Advantage
  • Dollar
  • Payless
  • Sixt
  • Thrifty

I used payless when I went to Vegas and they where fine, I do not know about where they stand but a new car was cheap and clean so I was happy.

Used them in Germany, they totally tried to screw me over.
I had reserved, well in advance, a 1 series BMW hatch, manual transmission (was going to The Ring)
Get there - heres the keys to an automatic mercedes 230.
Ummmmm what about the 1 series? Yeah, they didnt have it.
I said I really was wanting manual, not auto. They could help - keys to a focus sedan. Not a cool RS or something, just a grocery getter like here.

We left.
My friend had used them before and said that their CS was horrible, but, at the time, no one else rented the 1 series hatch (this was in 09ish), so I took a gamble.
