Even in 26* weather

Top water lure or under water?

When it’s this cold I would assume slow worm action.

We used to catch bass on a watermelon seed colored SuperFluke or minnows in colder water.

We also noticed a distinct difference in taste of freshly caught bass in cold weather. Much better flavor as well as crappie when the water is cold.

Zoom fluke mimicking a dying shad.
Had one rod (wrong one, when I took the grand kids fishing) didn’t think I was going to get enough hook in him but it worked out.

Wasn’t sure of water clarity and brought a spinnerbait. Luckily I had sent the kids some flukes and they happen to have them in their little tackle box.

Crystal clear water.

Cool.............those Zoom flukes pay off time after time when you add the right action to the mix.

I’m still having decent luck on jerk baits. All the hits are coming on long pauses after a hard jerk.

Great technique that will get their attention if anything will.

** Quietly standing by for the @Chdamn response to you using the word jerk twice in the same post.

The phrase “hard jerk” should draw him out.

Trust me.........it has already. Both words are like google hits for him.

Better man than me...it hits 26* and I turn into a sniveling little punk lol.
Bright side: the fireplace and some hot cocoa with a drop or three of whisky tends to get the missus warmed up a bit ;)

Nice fish, btw

4 year old granddaughter hung with me the whole time. The two boys checked out with my daughter about 15 minutes early. :)

I had the same problem with kids not wanting to hang. The wife and the 3 year old stuck it out for about an hour.
