DPMS Oracle in 308, shoots good at 50 yards unsuppressed.... with the Blackhawk flash suppressor for my Saker 7.62 ASR. No shims/washers between flash suppressor and mounting surface on barrel.

I attach the Saker (ASR Mount) and whoa...… POI shifts about 6-8 inches left at only fifty yards...… and the grouping definitely opened up. It is definitely over gassed (soot/ash on the cartridges and they eject around the 2 o'clock position) when suppressed. No baffle strike or anything of that nature.

I'm going to get an adjustable gas block and go from there...… any other input/ideas to correct my issue..... particularly with the POI change?

100% sure it’s not kissing the silencer exit?

I used a flashlight and i couldnt see any evidence of it ( no dents, nicks or finish wear from front to rear). No keyholong on the target......I will look down the tube again.

It’s a 21oz can....What’s the barrel profile and length? The weight could influence a longer skinny barrel more so than an shorter HBAR. Do you live near a competent gunsmith who can verify the threads are cut properly (concentric to the bore)? Is the muzzle device indexing improperly off the shoulder of the barrel and canting the muzzle brake?

Heavy can on a light barrel changing the barrel harmonics. Or it could be a very light baffle strike internally.

I have eperienced POI changes from adding a can, but its usually and POI change slightly to 6 o'clock. Most I recall was about 4 inches at 100 yards, but was a heavy can, medium barrel and subsonic ammo. Imma check some things in a few.

Thanks for the ideas everyone.

20190827_190544.jpg End cap looks good, zero finish wear. Flash suppressor sits flush......verified with flashlight and .002 feeler gauge. Threads appear to be concentric to barrel....if they off its a very slight amount.....as in less than .008.

well.... I got the adjustable gas block in, I will give it a go this weekend and hope for better.

And the reality is, sometimes there are just combos that don’t work. :(

Hoping for the best for you, though.

Well.... today was not any better.... for whatever reason the adjustable gas system doesn't seem to make much difference...…. all while unsuppressed, I adjusted the gas adjustment screw every which way you could think of and I wasn't getting the results I was expecting. I even turned the gas screw 100% clockwise...…. well the rifle functioned just fine...…...which doesn't make any sense. I did find a sweet spot in which the brass ejected gently to the 3 o'clock position, maybe 18 inches from me( I was on a bench) ..... So I attached the Can and now it's 12-17 inches to the 7:30 position. I'm going to ditch the ASR mount and try direct thread and go from there...… this is just crazy.... The POI shit hit the rail on my target stand..... not a big deal to fix but man this has been a royal PITA.

Have you used this can on another rifle or is this the first one?

I had it on a 300bo ar and a 300bo bolt rifle, IIRC it did have a noticeable POI shift, but it was to 6 o'clock and 2.5 - 5 inches at 50 yards. I think it was about 2.5 inches low with supersonic ammo and about 5 inches low with subs, nothing that shocked me.....it's a heavy can. I took it to work on a calibrated scale (grams) and it weight 662 grams with the ASR mount which translated to about 23 ounces..... so it's to weight spec.
Next I'm trying direct thread attachment on the Saker, but I'm also bringing another rifle can with direct thread and a brake attachment to experiment.

This appears to be the case...….
I used 2 different cans on the 308 without any major POI change.
I put the Saker on 2 other 300bo rifles direct thread and the ASR mount.... no issues.
Finally I tried the Saker directly threaded on the 308, same result as the ASR mount, 12+ inches to the 7:30 position.
The Saker really sounded good on a 300BO AR...…… subsonic or super.
I am finally done with this one....

Coworker just had a similar issue with a 45 can he was running on a vector. Not sure how but bullet jackets were getting ripped off on one of the baffles and the rounds were going just all over the place. Didn't notice til we took the can off and started inspecting it. Was no damage to the can or baffles. But there was definite contact.

Maybe something similar?
