This is a rant only…. My 2012 F150 has had a parasitic draw since I bought it. I’m now on my 4th battery and about to get another one. That’s right - truck sat a week and battery was stone dead last night. I’ve used high quality batteries all along and, regardless of brand/cost, they only last 2 years before they’re cooked.

I got smart last time (1yr ago) and bought a high end Duracell from Sams Club. The warranty is 3 years and they just swap it.

…. waiting IMpatiently for my new truck which may take another 6 months for delivery…

I had this issue on my 2014. It can be the ignition cylinder lock but in my case it was Battery Management System. I unplugged it and have not had an issue since.

Friend had the same issue with his f150, not sure what year. Spent 2 weeks in the shop and they ran countless tests.
One evening the shop owner was closing up and noticed the gear indicator was lit up. Just happened to be dark enough that the mechanic noticed it. It was like a $20 sensor and an hour to replace it but 2 weeks to find the problem.

Thanks guys. I’m getting a new battery tomorrow and ready for my new truck…

(Sarcasm) I fully understand. I got my 2011 Ford ranger in 2013 with 4k on the odometer. Danged battery is slow starting below freezing here just 9 years later at 110k. I may have to get another by the end of the year. Garbage motorcraft😆

Realistically it has blown my mind it has this that long.

But yay, technology... Bit the bullet on a 2016 dodge 1500 with 45k on it January of last year.. had to replace the battery a few months later... It did test for a bad cell but it was still holding almost 11 volts after sitting overnight. Apparently. The software parameters are set that under 12.something volts are "below" minimum spec to even energize the "starting circuit" to try.....

My 2013 used to do the same thing. Hitva new battery and they put on a new cable end. I bought used, but they stood behind it. No cost to me. Turns out the clock on the radio screen wad not shutting off sometimes. Now I just make sure it's off. Stand there a minute or so. If it stays on I open and close a door. That usually works.
