looking at getting this............https://www.dsarms.com/p-14237-dsa-sa58-21-medium-contour-barrel-fixed-stock-rifle.aspx

does anyone own one of these? Have any real experience with them, beyond the history and the "right arm of the free world" BS?

I had one... prolly shoulda kept it. Nice rifle. Heavy. The gas is adjustable, so as it gets dirty, you can turn it up. Will eat absolutely any ammo of the correct caliber, and toss the brass far away!

I own several FAL's including Belgians. I'm no where near an expert, except at wiping them down every now and again. But my DSA "Congo" has been completely reliable with decent-to-good ammo. I would consider it as a grab-n-go rifle for most needs, except a prolonged tragedy/apocalypse-type scenario (minimal spare parts).

As far as the "Right Arm of the Free World" BS, more than 90 countries used it during the Cold War, up against the AK47/M - but I'm guessing you already knew that.

The FAL is my favorite Battle Rifle, on top of the M14 (M1A) and the G3 (HK91), in my opinion.

I was considering selling mine, but maybe not now. Excellent summary.

Own 3. Built 2 of em. 1 older dsa stg58 on a lmt made receiver.

Fals rule. You need one.

I hear they are pretty difficult to build correctly. My buddy built one and it's been a problem child.
I've posted this pic before...

There's a collection I was told about that's for sale. I'm trying to get my buddy to buy the whole thing - he's the money man. He's a Garand guru and there's 18 of them in the collection. If he gets it, there's two FAL's I need to look at, one's a Century, the other is unknown at this time. But I'm more interested in a few other pre-'94 ban rifles.

Hit up the falfiles if no one here has first hand experience on their newer builds. My older one is solid, but its an STG kit build, so the DSA parts are minimal.

DSA supplies FALs to the South Africa game wardens, built to their specs. They are used for counter poacher contacts so they must be good. I have an older forged receiver DSA, no problems with it.
