There's a lot of potential, I really hope it's good.
Agreed. They have a massive platform and story material to work from. Though a low point in the series, Fallout 76 had A LOT of story content if you looked for it. Things like the origin of the brotherhood of steel, the remaining US politicians becoming the Enclave, the spawn of super mutants, the church of atom, etc. Even the more mundane things like people banding together as ”the responders” and the “Fire eaters”. Not to mention all the unethical experiments Vault Tech was performing. Put this all into a post nuclear war apocalypse environment and you’ve got some serious stuff to work with.

Woke AF.
With Amazon, it won't surprise me... however, Todd Howard and the Fallout franchise don't have a track record for being woke........ maybe we get lucky.

100%, I've been with 76 since the release and even when it was a mostly empty game, I still enjoyed what was there, but I'm more of a lone wanderer and lore diver myself anyhow. Honestly, it was a nice save how they introduced NPC's and uncovered to the enclave's presence in Appalachia, it's only gotten better with time.

Same here, though I did make a few friends, including a girl named Ashley with who we would play together with either myself or my wife. One of the cut scene pictures that would frequently come up was where I snapped a picture of her playing the piano in my cabin. There was another one where she and I were standing on the lookout roof of the immense camp she built. We’d do a lot of the group tasks together and use each others camp as a base, etc. She introduced me to a “club” of players, started by another girl, Angela, and we’d often work together on various missions.

I agree, they did a good save of the game with introducing NPC story lines. They should have known that once the newness of the controller licking kids that just want to run around in power armor and shoot shit wore off they'd need to return to their core base,

if they keep it in its place, i'd be okay with that.
most of the game is built around factions, cults, etc and hating/killing outsiders. but then there are spots where people learn to get along. They could let those people be woke and still have supermutants hating humans, humans hating ghouls, brotherhood hating synths, children of the atom hating everybody...

Agreed. Just look at what the did to Tolkien's works with the abomination they created. Amazon has implemented strict quotas for race, gender, etc. so I'm sure there are messaging quotas built in as well. I hope it isn't terrible like Rings of Power.

I'm really banking on Todd Howard's heavy involvement to keep the story on track. I do worry with the writer and director being Johnathan Nolan, he did Westworld, and that show is...quite a display, though his work as an involved writer prior to that are some pretty great movies. (Interstellar, momento, the dark knight series)

Exactly. Rings of Power was an abomination.
And look at Wheel of Time.

Different companies, but look at Halo, Willow, Secret Invasion.

On top of that, during an actors and writers strike, without the ability to make changes?

Yeah, get the eye bleach ready.

I'll watch it, even if it's bad. I've not played the games (but have watched a lot of gameplay on youtube so I kinda know what's going on) so I won't get too bent if/when they start doing things against the lore.

I wager either way it goes, the VFX and atmosphere should be pretty well on key.

Unfortunately, I'm a lifer with the games, so I'll have to get beside myself while watching.

I survived Netflix' Witcher, I think I can sort myself out for Fallout lol.

We can only hope they don't try and adapt this statement in to a visualization..
maxresdefault (1).jpghowever, knowing Amazon's fascination with showing male genitalia, I have my concerns.

Amazon's New Vegas:
-Mr. House is a meanie on RobCo Terminal Links and is a bad man for wanting New Vegas to be great again. Benny was right to betray him as his second in command because ummm House is bad sweetie!
-NCR are kind and benevolent. Fighting for the right pronouns and racial equity instead. President Tandy is the best ruler ever, and women can bare knuckle fight death claws because they just can okay!
-Caesar's Legion are only right-wing white men and all slaves are minorities and women. They are actually working for Mr. House incognito to plot against the NCR.
-The Followers of the Apocalypse are SCIENCE people because SCIENCE! SCIENCE will fix the Wasteland, but not Mr. House's racist science. THE SCIENCE HAS BEEN SETTLED AND WEAR YOUR BREATHING MASK!
-White Glove Society are pushing eating only roasted mantis and soy beans. Bighorner farts are more dangerous than all the unexploded nuke warheads in The Divide. They must act now with serving these wonder foods instead of support the evil Brahmin barons
-Gomorrah has the wisest sex workers in all of New Vegas. They all have hearts of gold and are only be held down by the traditional values of The Omertas. The "Spymaster" of New Vegas sex workers has more acronyms than than the government.
-The Tops is rife in corruption by keeping minority entertainers from performing. Tommy Torini feels guilty about it, but is only being pressured by The Chairmen. Hadrian is beaten down by Mr. House's Securitrons playing the message NO GHOULS IN NEW VEGAS!
-The Brotherhood of Steel helps everyone in the wasteland and want to give the old-war technology to the wasteland. Muh heckin' power armor for the oppressed in Freeside!
-Pointless overly dramatic indoors-shot love story arc between Christine and Veronica that takes up 15 minutes of every episode.

AND THAT'S A GOOD THING YOU CHUDS!

I'm also gonna need Fisto and the Kings lore, maybe even a couple spin-off shows? How far can take this? Who do we need to contact to canonize all of this?

Screw it, who cares if it's canon, add it all to the Fallout Bible. it's better lore than official canon anyway.

I could scab write for Amazon's New Vegas since the WGA is on strike, but then that means I would have to return to the sewer that is King County, WA for work. 🤢

We’ve got to make Timmy cry.

Ok, not new Vegas, but fallout 3.

Again from Fallout 76, the whole finding of ultracite and the ushering in of a nuclear fueled era as a result and how this lead to the day of the Great War on Oct, 23, 2077. Along those lines, the ecological disaster caused by mining it and the people’s response (when the companies executed contracts, stole ad demolished peoples homes to mine for it they took up arms). Of course they need to get past the scorched plague as well.

As I mentioned before, the military creating super mutants with their virus, the institute with theirs synths, and don’t forget, “The Pitt”, aka Pittsburgh. The transformation of the Mormons into the settlement of New Canaan, and even the adventures of the likes of the Crimson Caravan or similar groups.

There is a butt-ton of content to play off of.

My wife even enjoyed the witcher (for a while, it went sorta sideways after a while and she lost interest), so any show that can draw a non-gamer non-nerd non-scifi type into a genre I enjoy can't be all bad.

My wife likes it, but is angry that changed actors for season 4.

It's clearly going into true dumpster fire status when your main actor bails because of the direction the story is being taken.
That show sucked after basically the opening scene of the first episode. They butchered that show. It’s like Netflix doesn’t realize that shows based off a popular series shouldn’t change major plot points. Cowboy Bebop is another fine example.

It is odd they buy IP only to ruin it. If you want to tell a different story, why not just make a different story? It's not like they can't advertise their own shows on their own platform to build an audience vs. trying to capture an existing audience and then pissing them off.

It's just strange to me how they'll take something like the Witcher with a VERY specific cult following, then do what they did. For who?? My hat has been off to Cavill for his attempt to bring Geralt to life, with what little liberty he had to do it. We won't watch whatever comes from the show without him, and remain completely disappointed with what was created.

Didn't even bother watching the "Blood Origin" spin off.

We tried to watch Blood Origin and didn't even make it all the way through the first episode. It sucked.

Been a while since i watched this, going to give it all another run for the evening entertainment,

It's low budget, pretty cringe at times, fan made, but proof that it's easier to make a GOOD fallout series than it is to make a bad one. Especially on Amazon's dime.

Playlist embedded with most of the other stuff from this group.

That's the weird thing. Feature films have now been shot on freakin' iPhones and the biggest expense in traditional film making was the physical film. Video and audio editing software is readily available and doesn't require film splicing. There are plenty of independent actors and film production crews that would love a big break. You can even avoid IP licensing by making superficial changes. The major expenses of old do not really exist, so there should be a renaissance in independent film production free of ESG, studio heads, accountants, and Hollyweird.

@NCLivingBrit have you considered being a movie set armorer?

you clearly haven't paid attention to the glut of terrible independent low budget films showing up on prime. they are legion.

Reliance on bad CGI in lieu of practical effects, lack of understanding of fundamentals of film making, and distributors buying crap movies instead of passing on poop.

The above movie monster was created by sewing together garbage bags and using practical effects to make the actress looking like she is being dissolved. You can't do that with CGI.

worth watching, definitely has a New Vegas flare to it.

Provided great entertainment last night, it actually aged pretty well. Forgot my wife hadn't seen it, so we had a good time watching it.

Walton Goggins plays “The Ghoul.” The Ghoul survives the wasteland as a Bounty Hunter. He is pragmatic, ruthless, and hides a mysterious past.

OK, now I'm excited for this.
Don't worry. Amazon will find a way to crap on everything about Fallout you cared about. I mean they melanin boosted subterranean dwarves just to tick off The Message checklist.
