Favorite "Cheap" Beer

I'm a pretty equal opportunity offender when it comes to cheap beer. High Life, Keystone Light, Busch Light, Yeungling, etc. I remeber drinking a lot of Red Dog back when it was a thing. I remember seeing a lot of the cans in @Long_Hunter collection in the hands of my dad and uncles as a kid.

West coast IPAs are my favorite, but if I’m going for quantity then I can drink Miller Lite like it’s my job.

Miller High Life Light and PBR. I prefer "better" beers, but sometimes nothing hits the spot like ice cold, cheap stuff.

I like Shiner Premium but I haven't been able to find it. I think it is made in small runs. I bought some Lone Star and it's doing a fine job of filling in.

When I was in Australia, oh so many years ago, I was amazed at how each state there had its "own beer." Even some of the larger cities had their "own beer." I didn't always like the local beer as well as others, but I enjoyed drinking what the locals drank. Part of experiencing the culture of the area. I think that is one reason I like craft beers - trying those made in the area I am in at the time.

All that is to say, ain't nothin' like drinking Texas beer when you are in Texas. I'd never had Shiner before spending a lot of time down in Houston. I'll have to raise a Lone Star or three next time I am down that way.

I've found that those times when ice cold cheap stuff hits the spot it's because I'm severely dehydrated and not thinking straight.

As a college kid I drank whatever was there, but as an adult who's developed an appreciation for better stuff it's been a while since I've had something from a major brewery.

How many are old enough to remember "Beer". White cans/black lettering.

$0.77 a 6 pack when I was in HS in Ft. Lauderdale.

Heineken was the “expensive” beer back in the day, as in “the ’80’s”. Now they sell them for $13-$14 a twelve pack of cans.
Not as good as many “craft” beers obviously, but more agreeable than the cheaper offerings for only a couple of bucks more a twelve pack.

Southpaw light. Can’t find it anymore. It was sub $12 for 24pk. Pretty good and highish % too.
