OK it seems I'll need to change my definition of "regular." lol

Can anyone recommend an irregular place?

You want "irregular?
This is about as irregular as it gets and probably completely sans vinegar. :D

They are pretty tasty. If you're trying to shame or guilt me to eating downeast style vinegar barbecue, you're barking up a dead-end street.

I can eat a LOT of steak, seafood, burgers, pizza, and other things before being forced to gag down some vinegar-soaked pulled pork.

OK, so what do you guys do if you travel to Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, or Texas?

I'd be in heaven at "Memphis in May." Slow cooked ribs served dry with sauce on the side, or with just a thin layer applied at the very end of a (long) cooking cycle.

Be careful. You're treading in dangerous territory with this one. I have been a NC resident for more than forty years and have yet to acquire a taste for the vinegar based BBQ and have learned to keep quiet about that in public.

When I crave a taste for the other BBQ styles, I do it myself.

I literally just LOL'd - so very true!

I'm a dry rub, or red sauce kind of guy myself. Although @Chdamn @Chdamn's Wife make a damn good sauce every year at the BBQ

I believe what consenting adults do, behind closed doors, is their own business.

;)

I am so confused...

Cooked meat = good!

If you can't find joy in all of the options available, you are making that choice.

Ya'll should try my way. I'll eat whatever "BBQ" someone invites me to have. I'll shoot whatever gun someone invites me to shoot. I'll kiss any baby you invite me to hold. Life is too short to fence myself into only liking certain things. :)

About to dig into some buffalo hot wings at the Pineville Tavern. They smell great!

I was going through some stuff in my desk drawer today and came across a take out menu from the Stadium Club. Sad to see it gone.

Words of wisdom. Pay close attention.

Sweet Potatoes downtown WS/NC

Might go there tonight.
Might try Camel City BBQ
I dont know. But I know it'll be with a pretty lady.

Camel City BBQ is good.
Thats where we're headed.
Im leaving now, meeting her in that vicinity.
Then we'll just walk around the arts district a bit and see how it ends.

This place had a similar feel, but the clientele seemed about two decades younger on average than that of TSC. Lol.

A second trip to Pineville Tavern will be soon. Although my wings were good (very good), watching my wife and daughter try to eat their burgers without getting juice on their clothes made me think I made the wrong choice. Both of them are annoyingly picky eaters, but they raved about the burgers. I just hate the place is so far away.

Since TSC was lovingly nicknamed the chit hole by my dad and is now closed, my wife asked me was this place the new chit hole. I said Hell, yeah! It is definitely a term of endearment. Trust me.

Great place and awesome food @lowspeed. You will see me again!

Thank you, sir. It was great putting a face to your user name. You have a beautiful family and I hope to see all of you again, soon.

Camel City was great

Large portions, reasonably priced (especially compared to other downtown establishments), and I liked the atmosphere (there is a BARcade there).

Will go back, do recommend.

Oh, I totally forgot to mention:
Last night we shared an order of cheese fries - bacon (not bacon bits!), fresh onion, lots of cheese, and homemade ranch!
I got the pulled pork - very tender!
White slaw was good, good hushpuppies...Ive had better but Ive had a lot worse.
And for my side I got the made-in-house onion rings which were very good.

My plate was just under 9 bucks and too much for me to finish...I may have had half of it.
Keep in mind I had some cheese fries before ($5), but it was still large portions

AND there are video game machines at each booth!

You guys are killing me.

All in good fun. But you're killing me with this vinegar shit. Yeah, all good sauces have a little, but when it's the #1 ingredient it's just too much for my taste.

Heinz has a good selection of bottled sauces. http://www.heinzbbq.com/

I've tried the Memphis Sweet & Spicy, the Kansas City Sweet & Smoky, and the Classic Sweet & Thick. All good, and all what I consider "traditional" barbecue (barbeque, bbq) sauces.

Yes I note they make a Carolina vinegar sauce. No I won't try it.

Find a souls food resturant that serves ribs/bbq chicken. B's in Greenville has some tasty ribs. I also frequent church fundrasiers but what ever you do dont not refer to ribs etc as BBQ. Eastern vs Western styl BBQ is a pissing match of epic proportions that will never be resolved. I am satunchly in the ENC camp--good BBQ reguires a whole hog not just shoulders and tomatos have np place in the sauce.

Wife and I went to Curt's Cucina in Southern Pines last night. Place was outstanding. Real Italian food. Great pasta, generous portions, and incredible dessert. Priced competitively with Olive Garden but lightyears ahead in quality.
Glad to hear your review of Curt's! He was my teacher/ mentor years ago while I worked on a culinary degree....great guy! I've never been to his place, sorry to say!

That's pretty cool. It really is a great place. We've been back a few times and always enjoy it.

Taza Grill for Mediterranean/Arab food, not as good as my families but good. Off Durant in Raleigh, diagonal from Carolina Gun Runners.

Steak is Ruth Chris Steakhouse, yeah its expensive but it is the best steak I have ever had in my life. Cut it with a fork.

Mexican is Cosmic Cantina in Durham off of 9th St. Its been there forever. The burritos are huge and the chips and salsa are amazing

Subs would be Harris Teeter deli. For the money you can't beat it.

Burgers, River City Cafe in Myrtle Beach at Barefoot Landing

Jd's smoke House, exit 103 in Burke county NC,not only some good smokey flavored barbacue, but the sides are excellent as well, it only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and if you go at peak times be prepared to wait in line.
There is a reason there is a line!

Okie Dokies Smokehouse in Swannanoa.

Suburb pork, chicken, and ribs, but where they really excel is the beef. I'm pretty much a pork purist, but here I often get the beef. Sides and hush puppies are excellent.

Anyone ever try Midwood Smoke House? They have several locations in and around the Charlotte area. Pretty good eats, IMHO. The brisket and burnt ends are Purdy darn good.

Mullins, S.C.....O'Hara's....Websters...Garden Alley Inn.
Conway, S.C....James Town Grocery
Myrtle Beach S.C.....Sea Captain's House....Magnolia's
Florence, S.C.....Caine's BBQ
Scranton, S.C.....The Schoolhouse
Latta, S.C......Schulla Hughes BBQ
All of those are within 60 miles of my gates. I go NO farther.
O'Hara's prime rib has to be experienced, that is a fact. My wife's family of from the Mullins/ Marion/Nichols area. Dry Dock is a little pricey for the buffet, but it's always been good. We'll be there next Sat night for a family birthday.

I'll have to say that I've never tasted a vegetable at O'Hara's. My meal there consists of the prime rib, peel n eat shrimp, and dessert.

Dales in Tabor City- good seafood.
Hog trough in Conway S.C. great BBQ Buffet with all the fixes. Hwy 501 outside of Conway.
