Idiot.

He won't last long. The FBI is rabid when it comes to flushing out early career employees who give the bureau an embarrassing situation.

For some reason they turn a blind eye when it comes to higher management, though.

Because he will forever be known in whatever field office he goes to as “hey, that’s the guy who....”

Not a good way to spend your career. I’d be embarrassed as all get out. How do you bounce back from that?

I clicked on link above but it asked for money to read the article etc

here is the video

I think he had to have been drinking to 'dance' like that.

Yep. When things start getting tight, the cabbage patch is the safest bet.

After watching the video, you can see he had his hands on the gun when it went off.

Somewhat on topic, I have always been taught that if you drop a gun, let it fall. Do not try and catch it. High probability of your finger catching on the trigger. Now, on topic, forgetting all the poor judgement leading up to the situation, the gun was on the floor not hurting anyone (must not have been an attack killer glock). He should have stopped, composed himself and carefully picked the gun up and secured it. It appears he didn't even have control of himself when he grabbed the gun.

Most likely represented by the FBI Agents Association. I wonder what (if they even have one) their collective bargaining agreement says about ND's!!!

Yep. Never catch a falling gun, or knife for that matter.
Had a friend let an auto opening knife get away from him when opening it. Strong spring. He was standing on concrete and said he must have gone through a half dozen iterations of "catch it/don't catch it" as his $300 knife spun through the air, before it hit the floor. Of course, it landed tip down on the open blade. :(

If this had been Joe Public, you can bet his mug would be all over the news and he’d be facing a felony charge plus the inevitable civil suit to lead him into bankruptcy. But...this is an FBI guy, so he gets anonymity and will probably end up with a slap on the wrist.

Alcohol, guns, shitty holsters and shitty dancing just don’t mix...

So he didn’t just drop the gun; it fell out of his holster after doing a backflip. He goes to pick it up and NDs, shooting a guy in the leg.

He was released to his supervisor, no charges yet.

How would a regular CWP holder be treated after that?

We would be on every major news media to promote their agenda of WHY the .gov should confiscate guns and then we would be paraded in front of a judge while we are in an orange suit. No way would WE the people get released to our superiors or anyone else.

What charge?

I guess it depends on the law in Colorado. This douche is a fed at what I'm assuming to be a nightclub that serves alcohol. As far as any criminal laws that may apply, since he's a fed leo, he'll likely skate away scott free.

One of us, as the poster that you responded to said, depending on Colorado law, may well end up getting charged with multiple violations. However, I'm not privy to the firearms laws in Colorado, so who knows, but I can certainly see Tucci454's point.

The video made both the local news and National news, so no sweeping it under the rug, so far. Criminal charges may yet to be filed, and I'm sure a civil suit will be filed. . This may well cost the Agent his job, if not his upward career mobility will be frozen in place, as of that moment.
Whatever happened to the image of the safe, sane, sober, and professional, the FBI always had? The DIRECTOR, must be spinning in his grave.

I think the problem is intent. Assault charges require intent. There might be some local Denver/Colorado charges that would be more relevant. But IF not drinking it might end up being a total civil lawsuit.
