Let enough people from ‘there’ come here, and eventually here becomes there. Why would public institutions be any different. People really didn't think it all meant just better food trucks did they?

Yup, there was no police corruption before we had hispanic officers.

Big leap from police corruption to race specific gangs. Nice jump though. Very acrobatic of you.

Gangs have been grooming the better behaved kids for careers in LE and Mil for decades. This is really nothing new. Dig deep enough and I bet this isn't a "gang of cops" but "cops in a gang."

Im sure the KKK or another white supremacist group has never infiltrated the police and harassed folks of non-white heritage.

I’ve known about them joining the military to get training and become trainers, but the cops thing sounds worse. Not only are they learning police tactics, they are able to use the system against their opponents while standing behind the thin black and blue lines (whose the system going to believe, one of its own or a known banger), they are intimidating other cops into either evil actions or to look the other way. Ok, “arrest” them. Throw the book at them. Go ahead, there is a whole gang that is going to take out you and your family and they now know who you are and where you live and likely more.

More system corruption, more delegitimization, and its ingenious enough that the system will be hard pressed to do a thing about it.

This is kinda a stretch....gang tattoos are extremely easy to ID...so technically the tats would be an extremely easy way to identify the problem.

What we don’t know about police crime
Stinson makes it clear that his database does not capture the full extent of crimes committed by U.S. police officers. First, it covers only eight years and more recent data hasn’t been fully coded yet (his team hopes to complete 2013 data by later this fall, with more years added after that).

Another reason is that not everyone who commits a crime gets caught — and many criminal incidents involving police officers, in particular, don’t end in an arrest or charges. In some departments, cops enjoy a certain amount of “professional courtesy” from their fellow officers, Stinson said — rather than arrest a colleague for driving drunk, an officer might look the other way, or even drive him home.

This idea is in line with Stamper’s experience in the San Diego Police Department. “It was understood that when you stopped a police officer off-duty, if you rolled up to his home on a domestic violence call, you would extend professional courtesy,” Stamper said. “Over time, many police departments have corrected that; they’ve come to the realization that it doesn’t just look bad — it is bad.”

I suspect yes, though I don't have any data.

    • Cops are supposed to protect and serve. Being a roach as a used car salesman (as an example) is par for the course. For those who have sworn to enforce the law, NOT doing so is worse
    • Power always corrupts

Agreed! Bro, I agree 100%, but some will want to make it seem like this is a new phenomenon only brought on by other groups

It reads as sarcasm to earlier comments, not a logical leap, at least to me.
