I've searched and can't find the difference (if any) between armed robbery and armed burglary. I'm not brilliant with the googling, I admit, and it's been at least a decade since I took a class that had some of this stuff in it.

I'm sure someone here can tell me all I need to know, or point me to where I can find out. Thanks.

AFAIK Robbery per se always includes victim present at the crime scene.

Interesting, I may put the ex-husband in there....he surely must have some arrests! LOL.
That’s not for arrests. That’s for time behind bars.

Well, he doesn't....I'm shocked! He was a terrible alcoholic and I figured if he was even alive, he must have spent time in prison.

It doesn’t go back forever. I’m not sure how far it goes back but I know some who have served time who don’t appear in that database.

I have a "date" with a felon in a few days....he can't go shooting with me. Dang!

Ok let me drop some knowledge. In N.C.

14-51. First and second degree burglary.

There shall be two degrees in the crime of burglary as defined at the common law. If the crime be committed in a dwelling house, or in a room used as a sleeping apartment in any building, and any person is in the actual occupation of any part of said dwelling house or sleeping apartment at the time of the commission of such crime, it shall be burglary in the first degree. If such crime be committed in a dwelling house or sleeping apartment not actually occupied by anyone at the time of the commission of the crime, or if it be committed in any house within the curtilage of a dwelling house or in any building not a dwelling house, but in which is a room used as a sleeping apartment and not actually occupied as such at the time of the commission of the crime, it shall be burglary in the second degree. For the purposes of defining the crime of burglary, larceny shall be deemed a felony without regard to the value of the property in question. (1889, c. 434, s. 1; Rev., s. 3331; C.S., s. 4232; 1969, c. 543, s. 1.)

Armed Robbery is different entirely.
14-87. Robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons.
(a) Any person or persons who, having in possession or with the use or threatened use of any firearms or other dangerous weapon, implement or means, whereby the life of a person is endangered or threatened, unlawfully takes or attempts to take personal property from another or from any place of business, residence or banking institution or any other place where there is a person or persons in attendance, at any time, either day or night, or who aids or abets any such person or persons in the commission of such crime, shall be guilty of a Class D felony.
(a1) Attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon shall constitute a lesser included offense of robbery with a dangerous weapon, and evidence sufficient to prove robbery with a dangerous weapon shall be sufficient to support a conviction of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
(b), (c) Repealed by Session Laws 1979, c. 760, s. 5.
(d) Repealed by Session Laws 1993, c. 539, s. 1173. (1929, c. 187, s. 1; 1975, cc. 543, 846; 1977, c. 871, ss. 1, 6; 1979, c. 760, s. 5; 1979, 2nd Sess., c. 1316, ss. 12, 47; 1981, c. 63, s. 1; c. 179, s. 14; 1993, c. 539, s. 1173; 1994, Ex. Sess., c. 24, s. 14(c); 2017-31, s. 1.)

@Millie Maybe I am reading this all wrong, but if you have a social engagement with someone who is guilty, or alleged to be guilty of such shit, you have lived too long to put up with such shit.

He called it "armed burglary".....

Yeppers! Not saying there aren't folks that have been convicted of felonies make their lives right. But those are serious charges.

Fer cryin out loud woman, you are not hearing me.
It was 2 decades ago...are we not to think someone can pay their "debt to society" and become a "regular" person again?
Are we to hold this against them forever and ever amen?
Can a person not be deemed to be a "person" after 2 decades?
Can we not at least try to give them a chance?
Have we all not made bad choices in life? I know I have.

Quoted for emphasis.

WTF @Millie ? It’s a free country, sort of, but be safe.

My experience with people that were downright bad in their younger years is that they are either still rotten, but sneakier, or have gone completely the opposite and are Puritans of some sort. Hopefully your experience this time falls somewhere between those two.

I’m not trying to judge. Just trying to keep a friend out of harm’s way. Lord knows I hope someone will do likewise for me if the time arises.

Thanks....I'll be in a public place. I'm not going off with any strange man alone.....

Thanks. I'll be careful. My friend will be watching over me, he's a big guy....lol.

Since you started the thread and curiosity is killing some of us.
Okay, me.
Did he tell you this?

Yes, he did. He said he couldn't go to the range with me, and explained why.
(It's my preferred meeting place, since there are heavily armed young dudes all over the place, and I have friends there.)

When is meeting? Please keep us posted so we know youre ok

I can't tell you who ya can and can't date Millie, but what I can tell ya, is ya ain't bringin him around here!..You should consider being one of those prison inmate pen-pal girlfriends. at least they're still locked away and under supervision :)

In all seriousness, be careful with exposure to your firearms and how many/what you own. never know if hers a crook that hasn't since been caught.

Certainly we can. But for goodness sake woman. Let someone else do it. Protect your self. If things are that desperate get a BOB (not to be confused with @BatteryOaksBilly ) . Use your noodle for somethin sides a hat rack.

We're not "dating," y'all.....
I appreciate your concern, I decided not to go, so don't worry.

It was a lunch!! Don't be so dramatic. Lunch in public.
Cancelled it anyway. So settle down, Tim.

If I was desperate, I'd be having one-nighters 6 times a week! I get "offers" a lot, even at my age and fluffiness.
I don't choose to go that route, though.

Always worry about my friends. Even ones I have never met. So sue me.

I disagree to some extent with some of the comments. A person can change. I also believe if you pay your debt to society during lock up you should get your rights restored. If he committed a crime twenty years ago and has no other charges a public meeting would seem safe to me. The fact he admitted to the reason he can’t go to the range is an act of honesty. A criminal would lie and hide his past. I have friends who have done time and I have enemies who have done crimes. The crime dictates my forgiveness. Yes it’s selective but it’s my view and I own it. Crimes against children and rape are a no forgiveness for me. So is murder.

You guys are nice to worry about my fluffiness, but I'm all good. Not to worry.
