Stopped in today picked up a bulk pack of federal 556. Store was busy, only took me about five minutes to get through the line they had all the registers open. Still had a bunch of ammunition behind the counter. I almost didn’t go because I had heard horror stories from people this week saying at the place was overrun, I’m glad I went.E2A592A6-5D82-4EA9-BDCA-D7DD731C04D8.jpeg

Not close to me at all, but Im curious - how were ammo prices?

Around .40 a round seems to be the going price buying in bulk everywhere I've been. For a 20 round box, I've seen $12-15 and it is steady selling.

not gonna lie, i may or may not have benefited from the federal rebate sales, and then the walmart closing sales, and then drove around with a good few thousand rounds in my trunk for a while. i might have all of that added to the small stockpile I already had.

I'm glad it worked out for you. :) Did they have any cases of 7.62x39 at reasonable prices?
Honestly I think I remember seeing some but as I don’t have anything in my stable that takes that caliber I couldn’t tell you for sure. I was focused on 9 mm, 12 gauge, and 556.

I wish he were closer; Perry's gets it in and sells it out before I know it. That said, I am not really hurting for anything - I just feel like I can't afford to do what I want to do at the 'range' right now. Is that just me?

I want to spend all day long at the range right now, but I know I just can’t afford the Ammo right now.

For me, launching box after box into the berm at 25 cents a round is far less attractive than when it was 15 cents each. :(

I like running drills that don’t burn a lot of ammo, and yet provide some satisfaction, or enough frustration that I am content to pack up and go home.

Wizard Drill - 5 rounds
IDPA abbreviated classifier - 25 rounds
The Test - 10 rounds

At the range I rarely load more than 5 rds a mag

as always, this is why 22lr is great.
$10 in ammo can keep you going for a while if you pace yourself.

Very true. My buddies and I used to have a very good time shooting grapes and paint balls off of golf tees with our 22s. Tic-tac-toe and battleship targets were awesome also

No. I'm used to shooting a lot! I'm not doing that now.....even when giving a new-to-me gun a working over, I'm being cautious....I don't like it one little bit! LOL.

Well, now we know where all the "goodies" are.....lol.

How many of the 40 do you still have?

none, lost them in a skydiving accident. I didn’t realize it was that many until a guy one day couldn’t find me in the system. I told him I was in there somewhere because I knew I bought bought a couple. This is over 8ish years I guess

:)

It will not be wasted. All those employees spend their paychecks in an around my town. We like prosperity! :)
then you oughtta hate this check, because we're each gonna have to pay back with interest one way or another.

We had 20 trillion in debt and yet the longest economic expansion in history. I can’t fix the debt, and would be quite pleased for somebody to stimulate my local economy with that stimulus money.

I’m pretty sure FG&G will have to shut down. A reporter asked about gun stores and pawn shops and the reply was that it was up the sheriff but they were not on the essential list. Guess anybody who needs anything better get it by tomorrow at 5.

If it’s up to our sheriff that can’t be good.

I just checked and apparently Mecklenburg is considering gun shops essential businesses. Hyatt’s tweeted that they are exempt from the stay home order and staying open.

of course our sheriff is no longer accepting applications for ppp’s or renewing CHPs so that puts a crimp in things even if FG can stay open. They still had S&W ARs and defense shotguns as of a few hours ago

I caught a minute of the press conference and a reporter asked about abc stores and gun stores. The chairman said abc is government owned so it can stay open but gun stores were not on the essential list. I doubt the sheriff will over turn that one

My view is that Wake ( Woke, Wank) will fade gun stores at the first opportunity as non essential. All part of the playbook for WE CONTROL.

Done and done.

I listened to the Wake County news conference announcing the shutdown, and I am steamed. Damn county commissioners talking down their nose to citizens, saying what they will be allowed to do or not do. I was OK with hanging out at home before, but now I want to ride around all day and party down. Like Ron Swanson, I have a permit! Ratbastards. Telling everyone they just lost their livelihood, too bad so sad. I really wanted to ask how many county commissioners will be losing their livelihood in the shutdown.

From FG&G FB page:

We've got an important announcement reguarding Wake County's recently issued stay at home order.

Per the order we will have to shut the doors at our retail location at 5pm tomorrow 03-27-2020.

If you have anything you need to pick up (Layaways, Ammo, Transferred Firearms, etc) please do so before 5pm tomorrow!

Notes: All persons with handgun sales/transfers must have a NC Pistol Purchase Permit or NC Concealed Carry permit!

If you are purchasing a firearm that requires a background check please advise that the NICS background check system is EXTREMELY overloaded and is taking a long while to give statuses and is delaying about 50% of all checks. Please do not wait til end of day to start them.
