Red, green, yellow, orange, Colt Competition Blue {{{{{shudder}}}}}?
Vote in the poll.

I had red on several sets of Dawsons, and decided to give green a whirl since that's the color I'm more accustomed to in my carry guns with TruGlo TFXs

When I was with Sylania lighting 30 years ago we were always told that green is the easiest color for the human eye to see. I also found that when the red LED style digital numerals in clock radios gave way to green numerals over the years that it was much easier for my poor eyes to focus and see them at night, although I have no difficulty at all with red dot sights on my rifles. Hmmm.

I have Dawsons on 3 of my pistols. Red fronts and Green rears. I thought about switching to see the difference but have been too lazy. Post a pic of what you got. I am interested in what that looks like. My next set I pan on ordering the plain black rears and using the red front. Maybe Ill switch to green?

Green fiber front, plain rear, (no fiber, no dots, no tritium). These are primarily match pistols. Draws my eye to the front sight.

I've gotten used to red because the first sights I changed were on a revolver, red front and green rear. Those sights can't be changed so I got used to it. I've tried using different colors on other guns over the years and always go back to red.
If you are in a low light situation(for me this would be hunting) the green seems to gather light better so that could be a factor to consider.

I don't want to exclude or discourage other applications in this discussion of fiber sights, but I've posted this in the competition section since those "needs" are not quite the same as defensive carry, low light, hunting, and the like.

Although I do suppose indoor matches are often pretty dang dark, which is why I don't try to shoot them. I don't see very well in the dark anymore.

I used to run green in my Warrens, because it is brighter to my eyes for sure, paired with yellow or persimmon lenses it's so bright you'd think it was powered.
I guess brightness isn't everything, I decided to try red and happen to prefer it, like it's easier to focus on or something.
One of these days I'm gonna try some yellow and/or orange, can't see blue or violet offering anything.
If anyone is looking for options or cheap replacement http://www.fiberopticproducts.com/Archery.htm

I added yellow to the poll. Thanks for mentioning that. And votes can be changed in the poll.

Prefer red but red tinted shooting lenses make it disappear. Run green.

My eyes seem to prefer orange, even if it is just the ring around green night sight vials. I wish the vial itself could be orange.

One of my pistols has orange and I prefer it to the plain black on my others.

Orange added to the poll. You can change your vote.

I've switched to the black rear sights and FO fronts.... my shield has a green front FO as does my Sig P226, I put a set of Dawson's on my G23 and it's red. The strange thing is the red seems blurry and less clear at times them the green.
Blue is the worst color to see.
I like the green the best.

Green, and the more neon green the better.
I have HiViz front sights on a couple. I really like these. They almost light up and come with red, green, and (sorry @fieldgrade..one more ) white tubes that you can change out easily.
The red is a bright neon also, but it's not as crisp to my vision as the green. I've never tried the white.

I prefer green, but I usually darken it with a sharpie so that it doesn't wash out the silhouette of the front sight.

I never understood the red front/green rear thing. The eye picks up green easier and can focus on it faster. Green rears always make the front sight disappear to me. When I used to have fiber comp sights I had green front, black rear. I prefer orange sights on my guns though and I don't use fiber anymore. Got tired of it breaking or being useless for indoor/night matches which is about half of what I shoot. I went back to the combat sights I use on everything else. Orange hi-viz around green tritium front, black warren rear...

It can be orange but the half life on orange tritium is much shorter than green or even yellow(also shorter) so it's rarely used.

Green rears always make the front sight disappear to me.

At @Amp Mangum 's suggestion I took a sharpie and blacked out the rear fiber/night sights on my TFX's on the carry guns. You can still see them at night, but the front sight "pops" now.

I have all green Tru glow TFO's on my shield and never have any issues finding my sights.

Side note: I just had to send back my front sight on my Glock because it was not illuminating anymore. Tru glow says they will replace it but i am awaiting the outcome.

The human eye can distinguish more shades of green than any other color. That is why the displays on night vision devices are green scale the vast majority.

Tritium vial might have gotten banged and broken?

I don't have any fiber sights.

But if I get any, I'm thinking orange for the contrast.

There simply isn't much in the every day scenery that orange wouldn't stand out against at some point. Backgrounds which are dark, light, green, blue, or whatever would make orange stand out well.

I couldn't see where it might have broke but I did bust a rear vial before. That was my fault and did not contact Tru Glow for my mistake.
I wonder if the sights that Trijicon makes are any sturdier? I know they are a tad more expensive but....

I have red fiber front and black serrated rears. I like a 1mm front and 1.25mm rear notch, generally. Very important: I like a very deep rear notch.
I'd like to try a green front on my CZ Tactical Sport, but I am too lazy.

I have a larger green fiber front with white bracket rear on my .22 22/45. I like it for that gun. Really pops.

On my carry guns, a Glock 19 and a G42, I use the Ameriglo Hackathorns and ICAP, respectively.
The Icap came on the 42. White dot front, white line rear. They glow and can be charged with a flashlight. I liked them enough to look at ameriglo for my 19.
The Hackathorns. I really like these for carry. Big orange circle front sight with glow vial in middle. Black rear. They pick up fast. And, they are very low to the slide.
