Unwrapping gifts this AM, I discovered that my MIL had bought me a lovely 25 y/o, cask strength, Lowland malt, as well as a bottle of Green Spot, a triple distilled, single pot still, Irish whiskey. MIL knows I'm a whiskey hound & always surprises me with a couple of choice bottles every year. I've not tried the Lowland yet, but past experience with Green Spot will have yer tongue attempting to slap yer brains out & send you on the epic & urgent task of finding the bottom of the bottle.

No spirits here. Kinda messes with my meds.

I have fod memories of my grandfather. He would not spend his money on spirits but he readily accepted gifts of spirits. A fine whisky was appreciated but Grandma would give him the stink eye though. Good times, but too young to realize it.

No tree and no spirits, but I did buy myself a half gallon of Jack to keep me company while I'm on vacation.

I've been known to spend plenty on spirits, like the time I bought 3 cases of Jameson. lol... But I always hugely appreciate the gift of a fine bottle. Wife bought me a 30y/o Highland malt for graduating college & a Oban 16y/o Distiller's Reserve for our anniversary. That particular Oban is outstanding, btw.

Hey Carl nice sig line. My rebel spirt comes through my moms family. They were Irish.
Black Forest German & Alsace French on my dad's side, Swedish on my mom's. I like to think that I come from the kinda people who sacked Rome & Paris.

I received a bottle of Makers 46 from the FIL. It's tasty.

Sons girlfriend got me a bottle of ole number 7. Think she's trying to get on my good side. Not a yuge Jack fan, but I'll drink it.

Got a surprise bottle of 90 proof Bird Dog, 10 year old , Hand Select, Reserve Stock, Very Small Batch bourbon whiskey.
Exceeded my expectations. I made me smile big.

Nothing "fine" but I got a couple bottles of Crown (yes, blasphemy) and a bottle of Gentlemen Jack. Both are appreciated and will be consumed in short order.

I've not tried their bourbon, but love their other whiskeys. The Honey-Jalapeno is awesome.

My mom and her idiot husband are in town for the week....so I've been emptying bottles...polished off the last of my Knob Creek Rye just a minute ago. Will crack open a Balvenie 12yr next.

My lovely daugher got her ole dad a bottle of Suttler's Small Batch Gin! Made in Winston Salem and is excellent.Sippin gin or delicious Martini's but no tonic, to rich to make those with it.

I'm giving a couple of good friends spirits this year. One got a jar of Kitty Walton's Apple Pie Moonshine. The other is getting a bottle of Jefferson Reserve.

Walton's Apple Pie shine and sour mix makes a very nice after dinner drink.

An Army buddy came up for New Year's with a bottle of Don Julio anejo & a bottle of Copper Fox rye whiskey. The Copper Fox is incredible. Smooth, not too sweet & just the right bite.

We never got into the tequila, but did get into a Jameson Gold Reserve & that cask strength, 25 y/o Lowland malt & a couple different mason jars, including a lovely peach brandy from VA & a wicked smooth, ~150 proof corn from (of all places) Wake Co. Had a great time making some vicious ghost pepper deer jerky, but it's been a quite a while since I had to hang on to the wall for balance on my way to the bedroom.

Glenlivet Founders Reserve. I would love to find Oban Distillers edition as I found the "Little Bay" to be very tasty!

HUGE Glenlivet fan. Every bottling is primo, but I have a soft spot for the 16 y/o Nadurra. That Oban is worth the search. VERY tasty.

None under the Christmas tree but while I was in the keys I picked up a rather large bottle of Brugal anjeo, some blackberry brandy, and even picked up a bottle of Buffalo Trace whisky....In case any of you brown likker drinkers ever show up at the house.

Bird Dog is a great drink!!! Highly recommend. Just avoid the fruit infused varieties

Not had the Copper Fox, but am a big fan of the Bulleit Rye. I'm glad ryes are making a comeback, its one of the best neat drinks out there IMO.
