I'm sure this has been asked before but with the 'search' function as it is...

What is the best way to find a owner of property to ask about hunting?

What has worked?
What is useless?

There are also a couple apps that use GIS info that is more or less google maps with property lines and owner info. OnX and HuntWise are the two I’ve used in the past. You have to use the paid version on the app to get the property owner/property line info but there is a one time free trail just don’t forget to cancel it.

Hunt onX. If you have the address I could look up the owner for ya

How about an app that combines GIS data with tax status so we could easliy find potential tax forclosures and / or for sale listings

At least some of those county GIS systems are linked to the tax records, but you have to do your own digging. You can also link to the survey plats to see more detail like easements, rights of way, etc.

Msg’d you, but public apology. I’d forgotten I’d only renewed my subscription for SC this year.

In SC I can go to the County Assessor's website, look up any parcel and get the owner's name and mailing address.

Kinda or kinda not related, but I had mildly upset a co-worker when we were talking about a small piece of land he had sold.

He mentioned selling it and where it was located. I had said that my wife and I had actually looked at it a while back, but after seeing what he had paid for it a year earlier, and what he had it lasted for (this was actually before all of this recent craziness), we couldn't go into it with a warm and fuzzy (we understand your land, your price, and all that).

Turns out, he wasn't even upset by my comment, but because there was a website that anyone could get that info on. I guess he thought it was no one's business how much he sold it for.

After showing him the info in several of his neighbor's properties, his "anger" turned into curiosity. I knew full well once he got home, he was going to be clicking on every parcel in his county. Haha.
