First drum fishing trip.

My wife's uncle lives in Oriental, we went out yesterday and had a blast. 5 of us fished, we caught 6 slot sized puppies, few larger blue fish. My son was able to boat a 40.5 inch drum, his cousin caught a 36 inch fish and I hauled in a 42 inch drum.

We used to own the point inside the bridge. When I was a teen I spent a lot of time down there fishing, crabbing, setting nets, etc.

Head east on the sound on the Northern side and there are a couple ship wrecks out there, good fishing but the Marines will buzz you sometimes from Cherry Branch.

Nice work! I've made 4 trips down there so far this year with no luck on big goldfish. Did yall catch them on poppn' corks or soak mullet? Oriental bridge is holding some nice 20+" specs right now.

Those are bombing and gunnery targets if I remember correctly. There is some good fishing out of Oriental. Nice drum.

Yep, exactly what they are. There used to be an old sailboat sunk there as well. The mast half sticking out of the water. We used to tie up there and slay croaker.

We caught our slot fish right at the bombing range. A couple made diving passes but didn't drop anything.
We were using cut mullet and bluefish. I have never caught anything that big, that was a blast, we will be back next year for sure.

The guy we fished with is awesome, he worked his butt off us. My 13 y/o and his 14 y/o cousin had him running laps around the boat.
