Well, at the Charlotte show last Saturday I saw my first new Colt Agent (revolver) in the wild. Actually, I saw two. One of them was at Backwoods Bang Shop (they had the best price as well/no surprise). Fit and finish was good, but the grip didn't really fit my hand. I was pretty disappointed by that, as I know from Procecutor's thread that not all of the grips for the old Agent's fit. Gotta say, that I prefer the Kimber K6 to this one. It hurts me to admit that, but it's true. And don't get me started on the name. Do a gunbroker search for Colt Agent and you get old, new, auto, revolver...

So, even though the Colt is @$50 to $100 cheaper than the Kimber, I think it would be worth it to me. I may wait to see what the aftermarket grip market comes up with.

I have handled the Kimber but not the Colt. If Colt wants to be top dog, it had better have a gooood gun because the Kimber is excellent.

I think the Kimber is an excellent revolver. (1) top quality construction, (2) 6 round capacity, (3) perfectly sized for concealed carry. I cannot say anything like that about the Colt. I want to really like the Colt but have to keep making excuses for it.

Nice short, honest review with no bias. Thanks. Coming from a well known S&W guy that means something.

Yeah, seeing them side by side, I think I even prefer the look of the Kimber. Dang what's wrong with me:) Haven't priced the black coated K6 yet or seen one in the wild. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the feedback and review...

I saw a black coated (DLC) K6 on gunbroker the other night. It was priced like the regular stainless. I am looking for a 3"

Is this the ugly revolver thread or am I in the wrong place again?

Notice, that I am not rushing to defend either revolver from an aesthetics standpoint.

That said, the Kimber has earned it's place with me. A++*

The Colt...well, let's just say that I am glad Colt is getting back into double-action revolvers. It would be nice if they put a bit more effort into it. The Colt gets a C+ from me. It's a stainless revolver that functions but has an uninspired design. Ships with huge grips and no grip pin to facilitate old school grips. It is indistinguishable from a Charter Arms at 10 feet.

I'm going to have to blame you for me trying to find the Kimber and not to have to cut out a kidney to get one...

The OP refers to a New Colt Agent Revolver. Is there another new Colt revolver on the market or is the OP actually referring to the new bastardazation stainless steel Cobra?

He's just talking about the "Cobra." Sadly. A lightweight and nice looking verion is welcome (with appropriate grips).

That barrel and shroud just don't do anything for me. Every time I look at it my eyes are drawn directly to it and then I just say "uuggghhhh"

What I thought.

Anybody on the forum have one of the Rhino revolvers?

No, but gave one a hard look lately. Tough to do because they are so goddamned ugly. But, it was a lot lighter than it looks. Felt solid. Want to try one at the range. The downside, expensive and requires it's own holster. I hear good things.

I could see picking one up, at some point.

Rhino looks like it would be chambered for gel caps of napalm.

If I had a collection like @Prosecutor maybe I would consider one of these. But with some many good quality use revolvers on the market, WHY?

Buddy of mine has a Chiappa Rhino. I am like WTF is wrong with you. It's the only wheelgun he has. He is also perpetually single, and not by choice :D

Just for the sake of argument, in fifty years which one will be worth more. The Kimber or the Colt?

Probably the one that doesn't have a name like a junior high school cheerleader.

Hmm. The Kimber MSRP is about the same as 50 year old classic Colts right now.

It's hard to say. About a year ago, when it first came out, I was concerned about the Kimber's long-term viability. The revolver itself is really nice. However, the pool of people who will spend $900 is small. Kimber is branching out, offering 3" barrel, more variations. The price will drop in time. Just like many of the Smith J frames. On the other hand, if something happens to K6 production...these guns will be worth a lot. A LOT. They are quality.

By contrast, I think Colt is dead. This Cobra was it's last gasp before bankruptcy swallows the company whole....or maybe some crappy foreign outfit will buy it to make pot metal guns in leopard print and purple, along with and fantasy knives. You already know what the market looks like for classic Colts. That bubble burst about 8 months ago for Pythons. The Detectives, Agents, Cobras will stay about the same. This new Colt will be about as desirable to collectors as the SF-VI or some other more recent (last 25 year) production Colt. It won't be worth much to more practical folks. I am always going to be bummer about what happened to Colt. **Note - If I am hard on Colt...it's because it deserves it. Not only did I expect more. It would not have been hard for Colt to deliver. Not hard at all.
