Looking to add a suppressor mount to my Savage 110 in .308 and am debating a brake vs a flash hider. The can sits in jail for another ~year, but doing barrel renovations now...

Brake: best option to remain on target (directs blast left-right), but anyone shooting to my sides will hate me!

Flash hider: better for ARs, but not best for precision work due to muzzle blast in all directions. Neighbor shooters won’t hate me immediately.
Can came with a hider. Looking at my bolt action as first threading victim... do I buy a brake and use the FH on my .308 AR?

Opinions appreciated...

Brake, because screw the neighbors cup of coffee you’re about to blow over

Sounds like I’ll be buying a brake for the ‘smith to install on my bolt. FH on the AR10 after confirming threads are concentric!!

I thought we talked about this ;), brake on the bolt gun, flash hider on a short barreled AR.
Don’t worry about your neighbor, you’ll leave the can on the gun.

Perhaps we did... but it’s all starting to run together these days!

Third option. Linear compensator. It directs the noise forward saving everyone at and behind the firing line from the blast.

I guess whatever helps you see your hits through the glass if possible?

Brake: its what the doctor ordered.
Earplugs and muffs: it's what the ear doctor ordered.

This is why good cans and bolts guns are the perfect marriage!

If you plan on competing, many matches will not allow a brake on the line. Butner is an example.

They make combination FH/ Brakes like the VG6 Epsilon......I love mine. If I wanted to save the neighbor's coffee I could always get the 'cage' device they make for it, slows the side concussion down a bit.
