I recently bought a used Benelli Supernova, and picked up a Nordic Components barrel clamp.

I'd like to put a light on it but I want something with a momentary switch, either a pressure switch or a half press type style on the back of the light that I can actuate with a finger/thumb.

I figured out that the gun won't cycle the last couple rounds, wrong follower and spring in the extended mag..... Missed it when I bought it. So after ordering all the extended tube parts from Nordic, I'll have to wait till next paycheck for the light. (trying to keep my spending down)

Any insight would be appreciated.

If you have the right clamp, any light with controls on the back will work, mounted just ahead of the fore end. The nice thing about a light on a shotgun is that it works almost like a laser... where you see the bright white center of the light, that's where your pattern will be.

I had a forend on 870 with built in surefire light on the end cap. Neat setup just prefer the simpler light clamped on rail.
I don't like the extension wire controls so use the rear button switch design on standard flashlight now.

Cheap mag tube clamps from eBay, works great. Lets me use a cheap light mount.

And yes I realise I have rails on the pump, I didn't when I set this up lol

I have a Nova. They use the same pump assembly as the Supernova.

GG&G and a couple other manufacturers make barrel and mag-tube mount rail sections. On a pump gun that cannot accept a Surefire forend, I think any light is best served by a pressure switch on the pump. That way, you don’t have to choose between a momentary light that cannot be held in during cycling or a constant-on light.

Someone on Pistol-Forum bought a spare forend assembly (they are available) and mounted a polymer rail section to a Supernova forend with self-tapping screws. That permitted direct mounting of a tail-cap controlled light.

It looked great, but I can’t imagine it would hold up through hard use without a metal nut on the backside like an MLOK attachment. It might be possible to adapt an MLOK polymer rail section to a Nova/Supernova forend with judicious drilling and filing…

I have played around with this idea. I tapped some fairly large threaded holes into the hard polymer of a Magpul Hogue 870 fore end and then sank a couple of threaded inserts into them with epoxy.

Then I mounted a small pic rail on top and screwed it down to the threaded inserts with loctite. It seems very secure so far. One downside I've experienced is that it can be a little cramped because the light is so close in and you can bust up your thumb under recoil.

That's a good point of caution, @Frack N Cylons. One "benefit" of the Nova family is they are all 3.5" chambers with long lengths of pull and receivers. I'm 6' tall and cannot utilize the front end of the pump on the Nova; the only usable real estate for me is from the rear end of the "groove" on the top of the forend on back. I can't imagine my grip being physically cramped by having a light mounted towards the front 4" of the pump itself, but I don't know how tall @Sp00ks is. He might need a light mounted a bit further out on the tube/barrel to be comfortable.

Another vote for GGG mount and light with pressure switch. The foregrip on the Nova/Supernova is not exactly designed with button activation in mind. My concern with trying to sink some inserts in on the Benelli is that there isn't a flat surface on there to work with, so you'd either have to grind/mill on some sort of flat, or otherwise have some sort of standoffs that protrude away from the grip.

I am 5'11" if I'm being generous. The supernova came with a slip on recoil pad if I keep it, which adds another inch or so. So yeah, plenty of room.

I am leaning toward a pressure switch if I can figure out how to mount it to the pump.
