Florida "Stand Your Ground" Shooting

Even with the video I wasn't there or a participant. I'm not about to pass judgment.
its just nice to someone showing some restraint before rushing to judgement for a change. for a country where half the people get their opinion from half baked blurbs off facebook and misleading headlines (never reading the actual article) its kinda nice to see someone saying - wait a minute - i wasnt there or i might not have all the facts etc before rushing to condemn someone.

i agree the vid looks bad at first- but i wasnt there and i dont know what isnt being shown or disclosed. i have more than a little mistrust of what i see on tv/internet anymore - because the majority of it turns out to be agenda driven.

That’s the easy way out.
Anybody can wait till the end and then say “blah, blah, blah”, it takes no imagination. :p

I just looked back & saw the rap sheet on the thug. Clean shoot in my opinion. It's one of those times when I hear many say "that boy needed killing anyway".

I have it on good authority that he was about to turn his life around. This was a simple misunderstanding, and he dinndonuffin

I can’t be the only one not shocked by this can I? Isn’t this why we have the grand jury to look st all the facts to determine if it goes to trial or not? It’s apparent they charged him with manslaughter because a murder charge wouldn’t fit.

I could make a pretty good argument for either side in this incident.

Is this a SYG shooting? Only if a judge agrees that it is. The shooter and the police chief said it was a defensive shooting. The prosecutor has filed charges to the contrary. The shooter can now press a SYG claim with a judge to get the charges dismissed or he can go to trial on the charges.

August 13, 2018, NBC "evening news" announced that the shooter will be charged. I don't know what the exact charges are or will end up being.
All I can add is this was a lose lose deal for everyone from the second it started.

Why does that article say "white man charged"? What does that have to do with it?
Because, you know, he deserves it, because of that  That's the seed they want to plant (and fertilize, and water, and bring out into the fullness it "deserves").

It's hard to write that, even satirically.

Follow up to this event: 'Stand Your Ground' trial defendant said Markeis McGlockton ran at him, despite video

After he shot an unarmed black man outside a convenience store in Florida, Michael Drejka told police that he only fired after the man shoved him to the ground and then ran at him.

In opening statements, defense attorney Bryant Camareno argued that Drejka's comments to police were simply his best recollection of what happened and showed his perception at the time.

"He wasn't lying, he was remembering the best that he could from the impact that he sustained," Camareno said.
The shooter claims his perceptions were different than what is shown in the video. He says he believed his was viciously shoved and that potentially incapacitating blows were imminent.
This could prove interesting in front of a jury. Can he make a compelling case that the proverbial "reasonable person" would believe?

I really don't care what he is claim is a year after the event. I'd like to know what his initial statement to L.E was. Remember that people lye but unaltered video does not.
