Well, safe is an overstatement. It is more of a gun locker. But it is over 30 years old, and I notice that when I take out a rifle, tiny bits of the foam slightly stick to the barrel.

I suppose that the foam does not like Gunzilla, but I guess it is more likely the foam is breaking down from age. Does that sound right? If so, any advice on how to replace the foam? Good types and sources of foam for gun safes/lockers? It is about a 10 long-gun case.

Thanks.

You can get closed cell foam on Amazon, some have adhesive on them peel and install. Closed cell will not hold moisture.
Yes that foam will break down from age, gets super sticky and will gunk up anything.

Had one before I got my safe. Still use it for ammo and accessories. Stripped out all the old foam and put in carpet and made racks to mount rifles (but don't use it for that anymore)with felt on them.

I too have a 30 year old gun cabinet (among other hidey holes). All the foam crapped out. I solved the problem. Ripped it all out.

Did you replace it? If so, what?
Not yet. Probably wont. I don't go in and out of that particular cabinet much so the long guns are standing up in there gently leaning on each other.
