So I purchased this C69 BHP a few years ago. It is a semi custom job with a Bomar rear sight sent back to give it a nice long sight radius. They installed a S&W style ramped from sight. I got it for $400 along with a few other LNIB MKIIIs which I used for custom builds.

The gun was somewhat finished challenged but was an excellent shooter. I always intend to get it refinished. Well I finally sent it to Fords to get their master blue finish. I also supplied and had them install a C&S safety replacing the old stock safety.

Well they shipped it on Wed and it will arrive tomorrow. This is what the gun looked like when I sent it in. The pictures are bit deceptive because they don't show the roughness of the bluing when I sent it in.

Well tomorrow it will arrive. I am super excited to see the results. I will update this post once I can snap a few quick pics but the gun should glow something like this. * The pic of the CZ is not a gun I own but this is what the master blue from Ford's looks like.

Can't wait to see it. Ford's does outstanding work.

When you get it, be sure you have a nice leather holster ready to store and carry it in.

And a ton of ammo to take to the range with it, so you can shoot the bejeebers out of it.

Maybe drop in in the dirt once or twice, just to get that done and over with, too.

Oh, yeah...and be sure to slip with the screwdriver when taking the grips off or something. Might as well get THAT out of the way, too!

Congratulations in advance! I'm sure it'll be a beauty!

Well the gun arrived. I hate having to wait around for UPS "Adult Signature" packages but you have to do what you have to. I had to do a little fitting of the safety to get a more positive click. It was a little stiff but a few passes with an Arkansas stone took care of it. I did not get a chance to shoot it today but I am impressed with the outcome. I put a set of Spegels on that I purchase for this gun early this year in anticipation of getting having it refinished. I think they look good and I did not have to "fit" them they slid right on. The pictures do not do it justice. It is hard to capture the mirror like quality of the finish.

That looks good!!!

I have a 1965 Colt SAA that shows some honest wear and I keep going back and forth on whether to send it to Ford's or not. I have seen their work and I know it will turn out great. But, a close friend says to leave it like it is and just shoot it. This same friend seems to always have a gun at Ford's being refinished.

Yeah I go back and forth all the time about refinishing guns. I like guns with good honest wear. To me its character. This one was just a little bit too rough so I went for it.

Maybe your friend doesn't want your gun getting in the way of his at Ford's? ;)

Maybe I missed it, but what kind of coinage did this cost?

If you don't mind my asking, that is.

You have great taste in guns! Can we hang out??

That's a pretty darn good deal, in my opinion!

Yeah for the work they put into it I think it is reasonable. I paid $400 for the gun. $80 for Spegels, $60 for the C&S safety and then $350 for the refinish. So I have about $900 in the gun give or take a few bucks one way or another.

Heh! Shoulda had them engrave "Kimber" in it for 50 bucks! That would have jacked the value up to at least $1,500!

This is a rare case where you can get more than what you have in it after the refinish. The way Hi Powers are going, you could make money on it if you so desired.

Very nice!

They should have polished the barrel too. As beautiful as that finish is it is partially undone by that dull barrel peeking out through that ejection port.

Let me know if you want to come by and juggle with it.

Sorry ole Pard..Guilty as charged. If you want to we'll send yours and mine this coming week. They have already given me a quote to take to original. It was very reasonable. This P35 is not only beautiful but mirrors my history with Ford's. Never been disappointed.

Yeah you are most likely right especially with the current cost of BHPs. This one however is going to stay. There are some qualities that make it particularly interesting to me. The gun was sold to me by Bill Rodgers. https://www.rogersshootingschool.com He had this and 4 other MKIIIs in his training center which could be rented for his classes. At the time i bought all 5 he said not one ever shot them so he was moving them out. The gun has an genuine Bomar rear which was nicely installed slightly hanging off the rear of the slide to give a slightly longer sight radius. I love the S&W style front ramp. The trigger is just a hair under 4lbs. It is clean and crisp. Someone tuned it up pretty nicely. The only thing wrong with it was it was finish challenged which is now corrected.

That is a cool backstory. I really like that gun. I'm sure it was cool before, too.

I had a feeling you were the guilty party. :)

Took the gun out yesterday and shot about 50 rounds. She is super slick and sights were spot on. Whoever did the trigger work on this one knew what they were doing.
