Looks like I will be going to Fort Campbell next year after completing BOLC. Has anyone here spent some time at Fort Campbell or time with the 101st and has some good knowledge to share? This will be my first station as an officer but I was previously with 3rd ID, 82nd, and two SOF units during my enlisted time.

It's the Army,
Enjoy it. I have had some great interactions with the NCO's from the 101. Now a hidden secret, if you can get orders to the Pathfinder unit, oh my it's the most USASOC non USASOC unit ever.

If you can swing it, do it

I thought I read they were getting rid of those, but I don't pay attention enough to remember what I read about it. It IS a cool badge.

RE: Campbell, I have a friend in 5th SFG, loved being there, much more than Bragg. I wouldn't know. I am allergic to states that don't have a coastline.

I have had a couple buddies go through 5th and they seemed to like the area. Most of my interactions with 101st people have been positive so it should be a decent place in my mind.

I spent allot of time as a civilian working with the SOF units but since I was living in KY I went home every night.

Can't be any real help but it doesn't seem like a great place to be stationed.

101 PF CO was inactivated in 2016...Army dumped all of the LRS and PF companies in 16-17. The Army retained the original school at Benning in a limited capacity until late 2020, recognizing the individual skill set was still required, but not the unit capacity to execute operations. There has been recent discussions on eliminating the 101 run school entirely, so if one can get a slot, get it before its gone for good.

101 is getting ready to be busier than it has been in more than a decade...all three BCTs will rotate through European deployments over the next couple of years, starting with the STRIKE BDE (2/101) this summer.

I spent 4 years there a couple decades ago, so things are certainly different now. Clarksville is a lot like Fayetteville...what we enjoyed the most was Land Between the Lakes (Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley) and some long weekends on the "Bourbon Trail" in Kentucky.
